Wonderful 3 bedroom property refurbished in 2024 that also benefits from being pet friendly.

The ground floor has 3 double bedrooms. One room has en-suite with shower/WC. Also a large bathroom with bath/shower. First floor consists of an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Great views of the Estate.Set within the stunning grounds of the Saltmoore Estate with some fantastic walks within the grounds. Sandsend beach is also just a short 15 minute walk away. There is also a brand new patio area that's been created at the front of the property to enable 6 people to sit out and enjoy the sun.

The property is now equipped with high speed WiFi along with Apple TV in the living room and bedrooms.

**Please note that although the cottages are completely separate from Saltmoore, the hotel itself is currently undergoing a significant refurbishment and is closed until October 2024. Building work will be ongoing through this period on site**

Great Location and Lovely Cottage
Had a lovely 2 day stay in this nice cottage. We were visiting for a family wedding in Whitby and so the location was perfect. Accommodation was really clean and tidy and so warm. The grounds are superb and lovely for an early morning walk. Perfect for a short break. Thank you.

Beautiful stay
We absolutely loved our time at York Cottage. The location is great, short walk to Sandsend, and it will be even better once the nearby hotel opens. The property is decorated to a really high spec and everything was lovely and clean when we arrived. Cannot recommend enough and hope this will not be our last stay.

Made the perfect base to visit the area
My family and I had a wonderful stay at York cottage. There are several cottages so it felt like a tiny hamlet. Having access to the beautiful hotel grounds was a bonus, especially with having our dog with us. Inside the property was decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Super clean, well equipped and with very comfortable beds. Sandsend within walking distance for those who don’t mind a 15-20mins walk (or a very short drive) and a brilliant beach, most of which is dog friendly. If you want more privacy then perhaps try one of the cottages with a deck at the back. York cottage has a terrace at the front with seating, but you do feel like you’re sharing the space, which we didn’t mind so much. Location wise it is perfect for Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hoods bay, Scarborough and the Dales. Recommended.

Standards are dropping…
We have stayed in the cottages on the Raithwaite estate for years, but this year was the most disappointing for the money. Now in private ownership the maintenance and cleaning is not being kept to a standard required for the price. Paintwork needs attention, carpets and furniture needs cleaning, table lamps have gone missing, tiles in bathrooms are broken etc. It was all spotless when new and owned by the hotel. We arrived with dead flies to be removed and a number of spiders requiring removal. The biggest issue has been reported before. The TV system is a total joke and is incapable of the most basic functions. Two TV’s in the bedroom failed to work at all. NOW TV controllers just do nothing and the whole system needs a massive re-think. We will not return to this cottage in the future.

Replacement holiday cottage
We are very grateful to Stays York. We booked elsewhere in Whitby it was not fit to stay in. Eventually stays York helped us. Yes it was another fee to pay but it was in a lovely location and were able to enjoy the rest of our holiday. So many thanks to Annabel and her team. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.
