If you’re looking for a cosy and homely place to stay in Whitby, look no further than Rock Cottage. Ideally placed near the River Esk on the East side of town, you’ll have fantastic views of the harbour. A great base, you can explore Whitby and the rest of the North Yorkshire coast easily when visiting Rock Cottage. Sleeping up to 4 guests, it’s the ideal retreat for couples and families.
The Space:
Rock Cottage has an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. You can retreat to the comfy sofas after a busy day at the beach and turn on the flat screen TV to enjoy Freeview channels. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can make the most of your self-catering staycation by preparing home cooked meals and enjoying them at the dining area.
The master bedroom has a comfy double bed with plush bedding and bed linens to ensure you have the best sleep possible. Ideal little ones or teenagers, the second bedroom features a bunk bed.
Rock Cottage has a spacious family bathroom with a curved bath and overhead shower, WC and basin.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
On street parking is available opposite the property on a first come, first served basis - charges may apply.
Rock Cottage is a first floor apartment that can only be accessed via steps from street level.
The Neighborhood:
Rock Cottage is located on the East side of Whitby in the centre of town.
You’ll find narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants just a short walk from the front door. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Walk over the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk and you’ll find yourself at the West side of town. It’s here you can discover cosy pubs, fun arcades and even more fish restaurants! Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around:
Rock Cottage is located in the centre of Whitby.
Whitby train station is a short 5-minute walk from the property so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
