The Space:
Deloraine Tiny Retreat by Tiny Away is located on New Zealand's North Island by the city of Whangarei, overlooking valley vistas and stunning views of Mt Tiger. It’s a 20 minute drive from Parua Bay and close to nearby attractions such as Abbey Caves, Whangārei Falls, Whangarei Heads, and Whangarei Quarry Gardens.
The tiny house is 139 square feet in size, similar to trailer homes where you can rest and enjoy comfortable accommodation with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.
These amenities include an eco-firendly a cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers) for you to use.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that we have 4 kids on the property who are staying in separate accommodations. This includes our 3- bedroom guest cottage, which will be rented out to other guests. If you want to book in groups, contact the land host ahead of time to make arrangements.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny home and its surrounding areas, which include the fire pit, playground, saltwater pool, and spa.

Deloraine Tiny Retreat by Tiny Away is a compact, tiny home that sits in the bustling city of Whangarei, North Island. Where you can explore bushwalking trails, beaches, and attractions.
Our local recommendations:
- Whangarei Quarry Gardens, a lush subtropical oasis in Northland, New Zealand, was transformed from a former stone quarry by volunteers. This community restoration project offers well-established gardens, perfect for a nature walk.
- Abbey Caves is well-known for its glow worms and stalactites, as well as three underdeveloped caves: Organ, Middle, and Ivy.
- Whangārei Falls is a stunning 26.3-metre waterfall cascading over basalt cliffs. It offers a short circular walk or a longer trek starting from A H Reed Memorial Park or Hātea River Walkway.
- Hatea Loop Track is a walkway that connects Town Basin, Te Matau a Pohe, and Riverside Park. Perfect for walking, jogging, scooters, and mobility aids.
- Whangarei Heads is a natural playground with beautiful coastal beaches, volcanic peaks, and forests for visitors to enjoy activities such as walking, hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 5 mins to town and airport.
By public transport: Guests can catch the public bus, taxi or hire a public scooter to ravel directly from our property.
Other Things to Note:
- WiFi is limited signal to the pool area only
- Pets are not allowed on the property
- No smoking allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Please note we have cows, horses, and chooks on the property
- Please do not enter animal paddocks without the host's permission
- Guests can swim and use the spa when it's not in use by others.
- Mobile reception is better outside the tiny house. All networks have the same signal strength
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Don't forget to lock the windows and doors when leaving the tiny house. Make sure to turn off the lights, air conditioning, and electronics (e.g., especially chargers)
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
