Weymouth is only a short drive away (can be walked via Rodwell Trail) and has lots to offer. The Georgian seafront and famous golden sandy beach was awarded ’Best Beach’ in 2023. Go fossil hunting at Charmouth Beach, which won ’Best Winter Beach’ in 2023. The vibrant harbour has many pubs, one of which has won the best pup of the year 2024 award, and restaurants. Take a boat trip to Durdle Door or walk around Nothe Fort. Visit Sealife Adventure Park, Monkey World, the Tank Museum or Swanage Steam Railway. Alternatively, take in the Purbecks with its wonderful scenery and famous Lulworth Cove. Nearby Dorchester has museums and is famous for the Thomas Hardy novels.
Being home to some of the finest small boat sailing waters in northern Europe, the Isle of Portland is an ideal setting for sailing, windsurfing and diving. Conveniently located on Portland Road just minutes from the National Sailing Academy, Littlecot was host to TeamGB during the 2012 Olympics, Damien Seguin, the France Paralympic Team during the 2012 Paralympics, the Canadian team in October 2016, and the Spanish National Sailing Team in 2016 during the World Championships.
