Lost Lake Cottage
Here we have a comfortable lakefront cottage just outside of Munising on the shore of Lost Lake. It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, and sleeps up to 6 people. The location is awesome! It’s in the Hiawatha National Forest less than 15 minutes from town and there’s countless lakes, snowmobile and ATV trails, and recreational activities nearby. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island National Rec Area are both in the general area. The cottage has two levels with 2 bedrooms and a full bath upstairs accessed via a circular stairway and the main level has a bedroom, 3/4 bath, and a futon couch in the living room. There’s a full kitchen and amazing views ‘over’ the lake. Don’t miss out on your dates and book your stay today!

The cabin was on a beautiful lake in a secluded area in the woods. This was the perfect vacation spot for my husband and me and our three dogs. We would definitely rent this property again!
We had a wonderful time at the Lost Lake Cottage. The house is actually stilted over the shore. My son was able to fish right off the back of the house! The sunsets were amazing and the lake was quiet. We look forward to coming again soon.
Great location - not too far from Munising and Pictured Rocks. The kids loved the lake, enjoying the paddle boat and kayaks. The sunsets are beautiful and it feels peaceful as soon as you get out of the car.
We enjoyed our stay so much! We were blessed with amazing weather and were able to make use of the kayaks and paddle boat. The lake is peaceful and quiet. The owners were fantastic with communication and very polite. Our dogs enjoyed the lake as well. We hope to visit again!
We enjoyed staying here. It was a beautiful, quiet, peaceful spot. The house could use a few added niceties such as coat/towel hooks, newer towels, etc. The only major negative thing is the water has a strong odor. All in all we really enjoyed the swing, fire pit, living-room view, and overall experience here.
We decided to take a last-minute long weekend from Minnesota to Michigan to celebrate mine and my fiancé’s engagement with our four-month-old! The place was amazing and Tommy and Tammy were very helpful and quick to respond when we had questions! We will be coming back! We loved the cottage, the view, and how close we were to the things we wanted to do! Beautiful sunsets and perfect views for a fire! It even rained while we were there, and the rain on the water was just beautiful from the living room window!
The property was as described on the VRBO site. It was well appointed with new mattress, sheets and kitchen equipment. Very clean and fresh. It would be nice if table lamps were add to the bedroom to make it easy to read in bed. All four of us were Pleased with the location, the beautiful lake and the coziness of the house. We would rent again.
Great property with excellent proximity to Munising. The lake is like a mirror and it's so relaxing to sit on the dock and listen to the frogs and wildlife at night.
My only suggestion would be to mark the driveway better. It's very confusing from the road because you can't see the house well.
After a little bump in checking in everything else was wonderful. This listing says check in at 4 but the confirmation says 3. No big deal. Tammy was very accommodating to get us in. The location was perfect. Near the attractions but away from the noise of a city. I have never stayed at a place that was so peaceful. Sunsets were beautiful and the kayaks were an added bonus. Thank you for sharing your little peace of paradise.
The cottage slept all of us very easily and the beds were good. Our boys enjoyed fishing the lake every day and got to know some of the neighbors. They were so friendly. Everything we wanted to do was within a good drive from the cottage. We even saw deera couple time on the way back from our day away. It was so nice to be able to bring our dog with and he absolutely loved all thactivites. We had a few days with plumbing issues but Tommy was quick to get someone out there and get them fixed. Hopefully, no one else has the same issues. One suggestion i would have is to provide some bigger coffee mugs and other glassware. And there are only enough dinnerware and silverware for 6 people for 1 meal. Plan on doing dishes after every meal if you have a full house.
Thank you for letting us enjoy your place. We truly enjoyed it!
Cutest cottage on the lake!! It was a good size, perfect layout, and was very clean. All needed items were there making the stay and cooking easy. There was even a boot dryer/warmer, which we were so thankful for. We visited looking for winter activities. The cottage is very close to the trails for snowmobiling. Rental places nearby are Renze Powersports and Munising Snowmobile Rentals or there is enough room in the drive for a trailer. Munising was a very quiet town in the winter. Places to grab a bite are few and far between but all were great! Jack pine Lodge and Foggys were our favorite spots. Skiing at Marquette Mountain was fun too. The best part was the owner. He was great through the check in process making sure we had directions, as service is little to none out there. It was our first time to the area and he was also so helpful pointing us to area points of interest and good places to eat. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone staying in the area and would love to return to do it all again in the summer. Thank you Thomas!
We’ve been in a lot of VRBOs but this one has a remarkable setting on the water with magnificent sunsets. Nothing super fancy but comfortable, relaxing and well appointed. Great kitchen essentials including pans, knives and an eclectic set of drink ware. Most everything you could want was available in this kitchen.
Weber charcoal grill came with some charcoal left behind from previous renter and a coal starter chimney. We paid the charcoal forward and left our charcoal.
Did catch fish off the dock sitting in the great porch swing.
Michigan fishing license is only 10 dollars a day resident or non- resident. It was a beautiful October day in the 80’s so we got out in the three kayaks and I fished from the paddle boat. Water was cold and clear but refreshing. We enjoyed great evenings by the fire pit gazing at the Milky Way. By the end of the week high was 44 degrees and rain. We sat in screened porch with beach chairs some tunes and cocktails of choice with an electric heater to keep us warm.
Thanks so much to Thomas for sharing this cabin. He is super responsive when contacting. Had a great time.

The place was okay. Had problems with the fan and light in living room. but additional lights were brought in for us. Glassware was sparse,
Weather was wonderful. Lost Lake is a beautiful place.
If you like the UP, nature and being on the lake, you will love this place. We enjoyed using the kayaks, row boat and paddle boat. Great location to explore the surrounding area. Noodles and blow up rafts are nice, a little weedy near shore. Clean and comfortable.
Not sure what would have made this stat perfect but this was as close as they get!!
The deck is built over the water for shallow diving. The lake isn’t too deep. Swimming, kayaking, fishing from the deck, great Webber grill, charcoal was left so we left ours. Well appointed kitchen, the beds were too comfortable and it was hard getting out of them but there were too many things to do. Ending the night with a beach fire was as good as anywhere!
We will be back. The lake is a bit cold in early June as it should be. That’s the only negative I could find.
We loved this quaint cabin, half over the water. The sunsets were pretty amazing. The owner was available via text any time we needed something. We appreciated the charcoal/starter cubes. Kitchen was very nicely stocked with everything we needed. My kids LOVED the paddle boat & I liked the kayak. We explored & found beautiful rocks. Barth rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable & house was incredibly clean. Couple things I would recommend for next summer: more hooks inside the home where we could hang things like jackets, purse, etc. we felt a little cramped just using the closet/racks. There’s good spaces by both doors for these. We also think the fire could use a ring or nicer rocks (instead of cinderblocks.) using the kitchen was easy & fantastic but it was hard to get a fam of 5 around the table. I’d recommend a larger table somewhere in the house & possibly a comfier sofa (or additional sofa) so a fam of 5 could relax easily. There’s definitely enough room!! The outdoor swing was heavenly. We watched sunsets there & watched our kids play on the raft. The water was a little “pondish” which was fine with us -just had to swim around the lilly pads. SUPER nice neighbors. Our kids played together.
