You can reach the North Sea coast in about 15 minutes by car. From there, the East Frisian Islands are easily accessible by ferry (e.g. for day trips).
The "Ewige Meer", the largest upland moor lake in Germany, can be reached in approx. 15 minutes by bike. 3 Dutch bikes, a road bike and a children's bike are available. A bike hire shop is just a few minutes' walk away.
In Norden and Aurich there are good producer markets and other shopping facilities. Basic needs can be easily met directly in the village.
For art lovers we recommend the Kunsthalle Emden, for antique collectors or those interested in nostalgic pieces the "Alte Schmiede" in Aurich-Tannenhausen and for humourists a visit to the Ottohaus in Emden. Children like to go to the MachMitMuseum miraculum in Aurich.
Golf courses in Lütetsburg and Wiesmoor are not far away. The water ski and wakeboard centre in Aurich-Tannenhausen is popular with young and old alike.
Sea enthusiasts will enjoy the seal centre in the National Park House in Norden or on trips to the islands (e.g. Spiekeroog) with the fishing boat (e.g. Gorch Fock).
The Holtriemer Land or the "green pearl in front of the North Sea beach" also impresses with the typical East Frisian landscape, wide green meadows and fields - or you can relax in the comfort of your own garden.
