This is the perfect place to spend your High Country vacation, in the heart of Ashe County. From this quaint historic cottage you can walk just two blocks and be in downtown West Jefferson, where you'll enjoy the Farmer's Market, art galleries, restaurants and shops. This is an amazing location with a charming old-timey feel!
Enter through the covered front porch and enjoy the sparkling, refreshed interior of this historic home, built in 1936. The main level includes a comfy living space with a TV, a separate dining room with seating for 6, a spacious vintage kitchen and a private ground-floor master bedroom. The master bedroom provides the comfort you need on vacation, with a new king-size mattress and an en suite bathroom with a tiled shower. You'll also love the adorable kitchen, reminiscent of days visiting grandma. Rest assured, however, that this kitchen is well-equipped for serving up convenient meals at home, before or after your adventure-filled days in the High Country. Please note that there are no laundry facilities within the cottage.
Upstairs you'll find two additional bedrooms with lovely queen-sized beds and a newly refurbished shared bathroom. If you're looking to escape the big city and reclaim the peaceful sense of simpler days, this rental is for you – with a location you simply can't beat.

Homeplace 1936 is a perfect base from which to explore the High Country. The heart of West Jefferson is just two blocks away, where you'll enjoy small town America at its finest. Experience the shops, restaurants, breweries, galleries, movie theaters and festivals, and watch cheese being made at the famous Ashe County Cheese Factory. Don't miss the great antiques shopping at Antiques and Main, just down the main drag.
When you're ready for restaurant dining, you'll find several options in West Jefferson. If you like craft beer, check out Boondocks and New River Brewing. Fine dining is available at Craft Bistro, and Slice is the place for pizza. The Tavern has a wide assortment of menu choices for dinner, lunch and Sunday brunch.
As you venture out to explore, visit Boone and Blowing Rock, for an even wider assortment of dining, entertainment and shopping options. Tour the campus of Appalachian State University, find live music and free concerts, or bring home a treasure from an arts and crafts fair.
