What a great location! Just 2-3 minutes from the West Glacier main entrance but still feels like you’re deep in your own private woods. The property is great as it feels like you’ve truly gotten away from it all, which makes the outdoor spaces great to use. We spent a lot of time out on the deck and the fire pit enjoying the spectacular views and visits from the wildlife. We saw several deer, a multitude of different birds and we’re pretty sure we heard a moose that was keeping its distance. The only location related downside is something you’ll have to deal with anywhere in the town of West Glacier, and that is the train. Trains pass through West Glacier with regularity, even late at night or early in the morning. So if you’re particularly sensitive to hearing a train horn, you might not want to be in West Glacier at all.
The main shared area inside the cabin is cozy. We had 3 couples, so it was maybe a bit tight, but still totally workable for more if needed. We played the game of counting all the bears in the place. Was a fun time. The kitchen is well laid out and reasonably well equipped. But there were a few things we could have used for the kitchen, which I’ve passed along to the host. Which brings me to my next point.
The host was great. They left a few goodies for us upon arrival, made a comprehensive binder with information regarding the place, helpful locations for things like groceries, and nearby activities they recommend. The host was also responsive when I had questions, which happened a few times. They made it easier to spend our time there.
While we loved our time here, there were a few things that people should make sure they’re aware of.
The shared bathroom on the main floor does have a tub and a wand, but isn’t really a full shower. So the best shower option for all of us was in the basement, along with the laundry. To access the bathroom downstairs, you’re going through the living space and bed of whoever is staying down there, so that can require some coordination. Also, as they mentioned in the posting, the internet truest is less than stellar. If you’re fighting to get your permits for Glacier at 8 AM, you might want to find a more reliable option as it can be slow, and some cell carriers have zero service.
Overall, this place was wonderful and an amazing location. We would love to stay here again if we do a similar trip in the future.
