The BVI’s “Signature Villa”. Named after the peninsula upon which this unique home is perched, 'Steele Point' is located on the very western tip of Tortola in the breathtaking British Virgin Islands, an island surrounded by the most beautiful sailing waters in the world.
Built atop a 90 foot rock headland and reaching all the way down to its own private dock, 'Steele Point' is quite simply timeless. It offers complete privacy, unobstructed views of the opalescent waters below and a dramatic 360 degree panorama of ocean, yachts and largely undeveloped islands. An unbeatable location for special family gatherings and birthday celebrations as it not just a regular house but a notable, unforgettable location in all of the Caribbean.
The villa, often referred to as the Cliff House is a dazzling triumph of structural grace and ingenuity, attributes that prompted it to be featured in many luxury magazines, including Architectural Digest. "Caribbean Travel and Life" noted that Steele Point is “…doubtless one of the most astonishing rental homes on earth”. One travel writer visiting Steele Point called it the "sexiest house I have ever experienced!"
The main house welcomes you with an open, airy feeling. The fully air conditioned villa features patios, courtyards, indoor and alfresco dining areas, and five air-conditioned suites, all with private full baths. The raised, open plan living, dining and kitchen area has been completely remodeled. The professional grade kitchen has been ingeniously re-fashioned and re-shaped to work wonderfully in the space. Millwork, countertops and appliances are all of the highest standard.
You can enjoy your meals at any number of locations. Even if you are 10, there are enough private places to escape to. There are few more romantic places on the planet to share a meal than on the covered dining terrace at Steele Point! There are many lounge areas, both indoor and outdoor, which like the rest of the house are relaxed and comfortable.
Music and good TV is a very important component of this home. Bluetooth pairing for iPhone, iPad, laptop, etc are all available to you. But no TV in the bedrooms.
The bedrooms are quite magical and one would be hard pressed to identify a master suite.
The Hibiscus suite is off the south deck near, but not too near, to the main living area with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, and nearby islands.
The Frangipani Suite will wow you with its 360° views of the entire peninsula. It is the highest point on the estate and a lover’s delight, set at a discreet distance from the main house with a king bed, a private bath, and outdoor shower. Look left and survey the islands of Little Thatch, Great Thatch and St. John. Look right and spot Great Tobago and Little Tobago, Jost Van Dyke, Green Cay and Sandy Spit. One would be hard pressed to find a more romantic and beautiful view.
On the level down from the main living area is the very secluded Gardenia Suite with a queen bed, and a private sunbathing deck with private terrace where you can relax to the sound of the soothing surf. You will feel like you are on a magnificent yacht as you can only see the sea when you enter the Gardenia Suite. Your shower, which is a lot of fun, can be indoor or outdoor depending on whether or not you open the doors to the deck.
Just under the Gardenia Suite are the Orchid and Palm Suites. Each bedroom suite is at sea level. Both are flanked by very private stone terraces and balconies to catch the cool sea breeze. Views can be enjoyed from the private verandas over looking spiral stairs that lead to the private dock, which can accommodate the largest of yachts. The dock is also ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
Every detail in this stunning home is a masterpiece of design; a collection of fine art and original sculpture adorn this property inside and out. Enjoy waterfront dining, spectacular sunsets, and ultimate privacy at 'Steele Point'. While it has the breathtaking beauty, sumptuous luxury, and exclusive privacy of a private island, this gated peninsula is within easy driving distance of Tortola's casual gourmet restaurants and Tortola’s white sand beaches.
Viewing the activity around Steele Point is always fun as the cut between Tortola and Great Thatch is a challenging sail as it is at this point where the currents of the Atlantic Ocean meet with those of the Caribbean Sea. Notable yachts and small ocean liners anchor in close view so waking up is always fun as wonderful surprises await you as you gaze out the floor to ceiling windows.
At night the sky is breathtaking with billions of stars twinkling. This is a different part of the world and Steele Point occupies a very special spot on the planet. It is an experience!
