Nestled in the heart of the majestic Great Smoky Mountains, our mountain cabin in Waynesville, NC is the perfect getaway for families and friends seeking a tranquil and serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. With 4 cozy bedrooms and 5 sparkling bathrooms, our cabin offers ample space for up to 10 guests to relax and unwind on nearly 7 private acres.
As you step inside, you'll be greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance of the cabin's rustic decor, complete with hardwood floors, wooden beams, and a stone fireplace. The spacious living room and game room provides the perfect setting for cozy movie nights, with a large flat-screen TV and plenty of comfortable seating.
But the real gem of our mountain cabin is the outdoor area, where you can soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains from the comfort of the 7 person hot tub. As you relax in the soothing waters, you'll feel your cares slip away as you take in the stunning scenery. The 2 wrap around decks and fire pit provide large gathering areas, or separation for large groups if wanted.
For those who love to entertain, the cabin's fully equipped kitchen provides everything you need to whip up a gourmet meal for your guests, complete with all the appliances, granite countertops, and all the cookware and utensils you could need.
And when it's time to unwind, head to the lower level of the cabin, where you'll find a pool table and a cozy seating area, perfect for game night or just hanging out with friends.
But the real star of the show is the location – just minutes away from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain Park, where you can hike, bike, and explore the beauty of the mountains to your heart's content. Whether you're looking for a peaceful retreat or an action-packed adventure, our mountain cabin in Waynesville, NC has something for everyone. Items to note:
We are located about 2 miles up well-maintained dirt and gravel road in a private gated community. There is a gentle grade up all the way to the home suitable for 2-wheel drive when there is no snow. Home is very private and secluded as we own all the land around the home for the most part.


The home is at an elevation of 3,600 ft. on the side of a mountain, this means:
1. Not all cellular service works or works consistently.
2. We have Starlink WIFI that can beimpacted by foul weather.
3. Trash service is not available in the community nor most mountain homes in Haywood county due to wildlife. We kindly ask that guests take trash to the conveniently located 4 miles away.
4. It snows! When booking a winter stay you should consider an all wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive (4x4) vehicle. The slope leading to our home isn't very steep, but anytime you have snow and ice on any surface, you can run into issues.

Family house extravaganza
Lots of options to have privacy if wanted, and a great basement entertainment area for all ages. We played jumbo jenga with 8 people for 90 minutes! It was intense, competitive and a memory and great family story to be remembered for a lifetime!

Stunning!!!
This cabin is everything we hoped for and more! The online description was 100% accurate. It sleeps 12 guests, which we originally had. A last minute issue and only 10 we’re able to go. The cabin is so spacious that not once did we feel like we were bumping into each other. PROS: Beautiful! All rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. The mountain view is gorgeous and can be seen from inside the cabin or on the deck. There is plenty seating on the deck and inside. The kitchen is large with lots of counter space. It is also well stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. The owner was easily accessible. Thankfully, we only needed him once, but he answered on my first call and quickly resolved an issue that turned out to not even be his issue to handle. Maps took us on an incorrect route up to the cabin and we ran into a down tree that blocked the road. We later found out that was not the correct route and we were on private property. Even though that was the case, he had it taken care of. CONS: I rated it a 4/5 on cleanliness because there were cobwebs on light fixtures, dusty shelves, and the towels smelled very musty. We had to wash all of them before using. The one and only frustrating thing about this cabin is the water pressure, or lack there of. The water pressure is TERRIBLE! You cannot have water running in more than one location in the home. Even something as simple as washing your hands in the sink would dramatically affect water pressure in the shower. But even if the water was only running in one location, it was barely strong enough to rinse shampoo out with of my hair. These few cons would not keep me from staying there again. Everyone in the group loved it and would highly recommend it!!

Beautiful Views!
The cabin was well equipped and there was plenty of space to meet all of our needs. The views are breath taking and the quietness of the location was much appreciated. Expect a 45 min to 1 hr drive to most major attractions in the area, but the drive time offered the rest we needed between excursions. Would recommend.

We had a wonderful vacation at Mountain Gem with its beautiful furnishings inside and out. The home was spotless with everything we needed to have a great vacation including games, firewood, fuel for the grill, swings and rocking chairs etc. All we had to do was show up and enjoy! We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful cabin. Despite some of the bad reviews our only complaint, if you will call it a complaint; is the water pressure in the showers. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and plenty of room for large groups of all ages! We will definitely be visiting this cabin, again! We have zero complyabojt the cabin!

Maintenance
With some maintenance and updates the home could be great, various components of home need repair and some updating. Various issues observed from plumbing leaks, roof leaks, visible mold like substance on ceiling in upstairs bedrooms, loose lighting on outside of home, spa missing components, jets and hardware loose and sitting in bottom of spa, no working vacuum, TV's missing remotes, VERY poor water pressure, LOTS of lady bugs in upstairs, Loose bedroom doorknobs, master bathroom strike plate does not latch, etc. etc. Carpet installed in 1st floor of home with no a/c unit, very musty. Suspect may be warm in summertime as well. Plastic insert showers and tubs, master shower SMALL. Plastic devices installed around home on exterior and are very noisy when windy. Not peaceful at night due to noise they make.

Thanksgiving Week at Mountain Gem
The property was in reasonably close proximity to the greater Asheville area so we were able to easily commute to the activities we wanted to experience. The house itself was roomy and comfortable for the eight guests in our party; each bedroom had an adjoining full bath which was really nice! The size and number of beds in the 4 bedrooms could comfortably accommodate a group of 12. The kitchen was well-equipped for those who prefer to eat their meals on property. Highly Recommend!

Great 8 Maggie Valley trip
Amazing place and an amazing stay next time well book a whole week!! Everything was a 5 star rating except everybody in our group felt like an earlier check in time like maybe 3 PM instead of 5 PM because there was not much day light getting unpacked and set up. Only complaint (or suggestion)would be better water pressure. Thanks for a wonderful vacation experience!

Summer fun at Mountain Gem
Property Manager easy to contact and very quick to respond. Location was super as it is between the GSM National Park and Asheville. The house is amazing, very spacious and beautifully furnished. In addition, the kitchen was filled with numerous supplies. The game room is awesome ! Internet access is very spotty but nice to live off the grid for a few days.

Perfect layout for 2 families to enjoy
We loved this house! Well appointed, well stocked, and beautifully decorated. We looked forward to our evenings after many hours of skiing at Cataloochee (which was very convenient). We enjoyed the fireplace, the hot tub, and comfort meals each night. The kids especially loved their own space to have fun with the large game room, too! We hope to return next year!

Things I wish I knew, but overall recommend the property
Three things that I wish I knew beforehand. cellphone- Verizon works ok, AT&T does not. can try wifi calling but internet is not very fast, therefore call is choppy Driving in winter- house in located in secluded, private, uphill mountain estate, with about 1.5 miles of dirt road to drive on. In winter highly suggest 4x4 vehicle as road gets icy. Disposal of Garbage- all garbage needs to be put into your car and taken to a trash drop off location, nearest about 4 miles away. problem is if you check out on Thursday, or Sunday, or leave very early or late, there is no where to drop off the garbage. so keep in mind when you have your car all packed up and ready to go, you need to find room for the garbage bag as well. The house has a beautiful view, and it is very large to be able to spread out and not feel cramped or get cabin fever. has nice playroom downstairs with pool table, and arcade game, although joystick of arcade game was not programmed so arcade did not work. beds are not the best, can probably be changed. upstairs bathroom had many dead lady bugs on the windowsill along with stink bugs. Kitchen had most things needed for cooking/backing, although nearest Publix is 14 miles away, so ensure you have everything you may need to cook. They were currently changing the roof, so there was construction material around, but we were able to avoid it, and they did not do any work while we were there. Property owners were quick to respond to concerns over email, and overall it was a pleasant experience. if you are looking for a large, quiet cabin house with many amenities, and nice views, would recommend it, taking into consideration the 3 things above.

This is a beautiful spacious home up in the mountains. The house was very clean and very well equipped. It is not too far from things to do and has plenty to do there if you just want to stay in for the day or evening. Honestly wishing I could have found this house myself to buy. Nobody will be disappointed staying here.
