Spacious and nicely appointed 2-bedroom flat. Quiet and comfortable. Great location close to downtown Watkins Glen and convenient to all Finger Lakes area attractions (Corning Glass Museum, Ithaca, lakes/parks, wineries and breweries).
Disliked: Amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
When the first impression is not good-you pick on everything…..
We thought it was too $$$ for what we got. Layout awkward-having to walk thru the bathroom to get to bedroom. Mismatched painted walls, seems like bare minimum effort for guests. No table or even folded tray table. Dried blood on pillow sham. Mattress very mushy. Floor needs resurfacing. Thanks for the 3 chocolates.
We enjoyed our stay in Watkins Glen and were able to enjoy the State Park hike and the wineries the area has to offer. This house has much potential, and we would love to know more of its history. It is clear that there has been a focus on decorating and an attempt has been made to provide items that might be needed. In addition, the deck area is enjoyable (until the bees from next door come to visit).
However, we are guessing that the owners are new to renting and this is a work in progress. The rental description should clearly state what they are making available…..literally two bedrooms and a bathroom, with no living space. We were disappointed in what was not available to us. There is no living area for visiting. Part of the kitchen essentials are located in the bathroom (inaccessible at times). And there is no table for food prep. The toaster mentioned in description was absent; we had planned to use this for our breakfast meal. We made do, but for the price we paid, we were a bit frustrated. I think if the photos and/or descriptions clearly depicted what is available/not available to those renting the space, people could decide whether their needs would be met at this location.
As we said, the house has much potential, however I would encourage future renters to read between the lines and question the basics that are not mentioned.
We couldn’t have been more delighted with our stay: great host and communication; clean and charming space and comfortable bed; a short walk to downtown Watkins Glen and the state park. We look forward to coming back!
The property was charming with old charm and elegance. Apartment was in prime location easy to walk to everything. We will definitely be staying here again
What a wonderful weekend of racing, hiking, eating and drinking. Watkins Glen has something for everyone and is a beautiful part of the country. Beautiful views from everywhere! This place was as described and very convenient. Thank you!
