Cottage On The Canal - An All Seasons Getaway - Waterford - Lake Tichigan

Cottage On The Canal is perfect for those who enjoy kayaking, canoeing, fishing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, fall colors, or just getting away from the city. Located on a small canal that leads directly into Tichigan Lake, this house is on the water and only 350 feet from wide open lake. Tichigan Lake and the Fox River Impoundment combine for over 1,100 acres of navigable waterway that is perfect for waterskiing, wake boarding, fishing, and swimming in summer and ice fishing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in winter. Just a short paddle from the house is a swimmable lake with depths greater than eight feet and depths up to 63 feet in the middle of the lake. By walking less than 100 steps away from the house you can find dining and often live entertainment at The Watering Hole Bar and Grill. This cottage is ideal for 4 people, could sleep 5 or 6 in total, if they fit on the small pull out sofa featured in the photos. Relax by a fire in the private, fenced-in yard, or enjoy the lower level entertainment area where family and friends can play games or just relax and watch a movie. Located just 3.5 miles from the nearest grocery store and less than 4 miles to downtown Waterford, you can be away from it all but close to creature comforts. The canal is NOT ideal if you have a pontoon boat that is 8.5' wide or greater or 18 foot or larger ski boats as the canal is restricted by a narrow bridge and the canal itself is only 20 feet wide. It IS ideal for fishing boats, jet skis, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, or paddle boards. Included with your stay is free unlimited use of two kayaks and one canoe, or bring your own fishing boat and tie up to the dock. If you just want to relax and look at the water then the deck overlooking the canal and the lake may be more your style. Bring your brats, burgers or hot dogs and grill out on the deck on the Weber propane grill. The canal may appear clean and shallow, but guests do catch perch, bass, catfish, and even northern pike right off the dock. Paddling through the tunnel allows for great underwater viewing of whatever happens to be swimming through! The house does have a Ring Doorbell at the front door for security and monitoring of the house.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. Kayaking and unwinding by the canal were highlights, and the peace of mind in bringing our dogs along was invaluable. We absolutely plan to revisit this charming house on our next trip to Milwaukee.

Great lake house getaway
Our family loved paddling out through the canal and swimming at the sandbar. Fishing was so fun and caught so many right off the dock. The house was modern and perfect for our family of 4 + 2 mini dachsunds. Nearby restaurants had great food, and we were able to grill an amazing meal at the cottage with dinner on the patio. The fire pit was a big hit with our little ones for storytelling and s’more making, along with the game area in the basement. Grant was an amazing host and communicated effectively and promptly. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was just as anticipated; the house is in a perfectly quiet and relaxing location with everything you need close by! We enjoyed nearby golf as well as on-site use of the kayaks. Highly recommend this property and would stay here again! Communication with the owner was easy.

Perfect stay for us while we came to visit our new grand baby. We have two large senior (one wheelchair) dogs and the property owner could not have been more accommodating, that was a God send to us as we could bring our dogs with us.

The home was so clean and we both loved our stay. The weather cooperated and we were able to spend time on the deck watching ducks and a family of geese coming up and down the canal. My sister and I had a relaxing time. My rescue dog Toby had his first vacation, he enjoyed his stay also. There is everything you need in the home, just bring your personal items and clothes. I will definitely be back. Grant is a great host.

Had a great time at the cabin with the kids & our dog. We loved taking the tiki boat out to the sandbar to swim. Cabin was clean and freshly updated. Kids loved the foosball table downstairs. We enjoyed the deck, the fenced yard and the fire pit. Would love to go back next year.

Great spot on the canal
We highly recommend this cottage! It had everything we needed and Grant was great to work with. An easy drive to Madison and Milwaukee and lots of fun restaurants nearby. Loved sitting on the deck in the morning with my coffee, listening to the birds and watching the willow across the canal sway in the breeze. We hope to make it back next summer.

Great time on the canal!
This house had everything we needed! Very nice and clean. Great deck, yard and fire pit area. Grant was super easy to work with and very accommodating. We were able to go up the canal on jet skis and get onto Lake Tichigan and also the Fox River. We really enjoyed our stay!

Our 2nd Stay at Cottage On The Canal
This was our 2nd stay at Cottage On The Canal in a little over a month. Grant is an AWESOME host and his house is very clean, comfortable and well equipped with the necessities. It's a sweet place with a sweet location. It's very accommodating for us to be able to have our dogs. We look forward to staying there in the future.

Nice cottage
Water level too low to bring boat to pier while we stayed, but boat launch was not too far to put in and putt each day. Bed super comfy but watch out for the frame edges. Super bar next door, great people in the area. Make sure you try Crossroads for dinner!

Good times!
Clean & comfortable stay. Just wasn't happy with the muk in the canal. Got the boat stuck a couple times. Great place just wasn't happy with the canal. But Grant was a great host and told us what to expect with the bridge! All in all we had a great stay!!

Great little place!
This place suited our needs for 3 adults, 1 teenager and our dogs. Although situated next to a bar, it was very peaceful and not at all a noise factor. We loved the deck and fire pit and our kids enjoyed the air hockey table. The only downside was the faint cigarette smell. I am sensitive to the smell and it was strong in the bedroom, and near the windows and doors. I think there was probably a smoker that stayed before me. Also, if your dog is smaller, they might be able to fit through the fence (which my Boston was able to get halfway through). I would definitely stay again.

Family Time
My daughters, nephew, niece & I made the 9 hour trek from northern Minnesota to spend time with my brother & sister-in-law in Waterford. The cottage was perfectly located! The cottage gave the kids room to hang out, play games or canoe/kayak. It also gave mom some peaceful morning coffee time on the deck. The host was great to communicate with. An overall great experience!

Wonderful Experience
This cottage is adorable, perfectly located and has everything one would need to kick back and enjoy themselves. My husband and I typically hate staying in hotels and are counting down the days until we can go home; however, we were genuinely sad to have to leave this place. We loved the back deck overlooking the canal, and used it often taking in the scenery and sounds. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of nearby places to eat/shop. All of that comes second to how wonderful it was working with the host. Without getting into too many details, our family will never forget the kindness and hospitality shown to us before and during our stay. Thank you for going above and beyond for us, we look forward to returning and will definitely only book with you.

It was an enjoyable vacation. The house was clean and the kitchen was stocked with all the necessities needed. The deck was a nice area to sit and have your morning coffee and the side yard was good to sit when you wanted to get out of the sun. My only recommendation would be for them to invest in some more comfortable furniture in the living room. The host Grant was awesome! He is very friendly and responds to messages in a timely manner.

Cozy and relaxing
My family + 2 dogs really enjoyed our short stay here. It is located in a quiet area with access to a canal in the backyard. Life jackets, kayaks etc are supplied. The rental itself is cozy and very clean and spacious. There was plenty of space for our family. We enjoyed having 2 TVs and playing air hockey. The pull out couch made lounging and watching Netflix comfortable. Our dogs enjoyed roaming in the fenced backyard as well. The host was friendly and responsive. Definitely recommend this rental for a nice relaxing escape!
