Indoor Description
An impressive, large oak door opens directly into the open-plan living area, with TV, Blueray player and Sonos sound bar, wood-burner and comfy sofa for cosy evenings (the ladder staircase seen in the images leads to a galleried first floor area which is not the bedroom!)

The kitchenette area comprises a Belfast sink, toaster, electric kettle and microwave, please note there is no oven and only a single halogen hob and a slow cooker in The Cowshed. The Cowshed would suit guests who prefer to take their main meal out.
There is a fridge with a small freezer compartment (no separate freezer). ‘Cook’ microwavable meals are available to buy from the (communal) freezer situated in the stables, the nearest pub is a 3 minute drive. The Cowshed has a small breakfast bar with 2 stools (but no dining table).

The shower room is downstairs and includes a large walk-in shower, toilet and hand basin. A traditional staircase leads up to the galleried bedroom area on the first floor. Fluffy towels, sumptuous bathrobes and luxury linen are provided.

Heating and electricity is included in the price of your accommodation. The Cowshed is fitted with under-floor heating downstairs and a radiator upstairs, plus the wood-burner in the living area. Starter logs and kindling are provided and more can be bought from the drying room. Wifi is available free of charge.

A drying room is available in the adjacent stable block for wet coats and muddy boots. There is also a hose behind the stable where you can hose off your boots (or dog).

Dogs are welcome (max 2) upon payment of supplement of £25 per dog. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs or leave them unattended. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times outside the enclosed garden.

Meals:
A selection of frozen meals from Cook will be available in the drying room freezer, with an honesty box for you to pay for meals that you have used.

Outdoor Description
The farm is accessed by a formal drive with wide verges and standard trees. The farmhouse is located next door to The Cowshed (not attached) and there is another holiday property on the farm, which sleeps up to 9 guests.

The Cowshed has a small private garden area, fully enclosed but separate, to the rear of the property, where you will find a bench seat, sun loungers in the summer months, a kettle barbecue and a fire pit.

There are also benches and a fire pit overlooking the pond for all our guests to use. The stunning Clatworthy Reservoir is within walking distance from The Cowshed.

The owner's full-size tennis court is available for all guests to use and 230 acres of farm land, belonging to Stolford Farm, is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways from which you can explore woodland, hills and streams, usually with only wildlife for company!

If you would like to bring your own horse there are four fabulous boxes in a modern stable block which can be rented on a DIY basis, with straw and hay provided with grazing available on request. Stables are charged at £15 per horse per night.

Parking
There is parking for 1 car right outside the cottage on the gravel drive. If you wish to bring two cars please let us know.

The region
The Brendon Hills are a range of hills in West Somerset, they merge level into the eastern side of Exmoor and part of the range is included within the Exmoor National Park. The beauty of the hills are definitely worth exploring, but there is also Exmoor National Park on the doorstep and the Quantock Hills (AONB) within a short drive also.

Clatworthy Reservoir is less than a mile on foot from The Cowshed. There are seven water inlets but generally, the south bank is considered to be the best area for fishing. Please note dogs are not allowed on the footpath around the reservoir but you can walk across the farm land and benefit from views across the reservoir without leaving Stolford Farm’s land. . Wimbleball Lake (10 mins drive) has a variety of walking and cycle trails plus a range of watersports on offer, such as canoeing, windsurfing, SUP/paddle boarding and sailing. Wimbleball is dog friendly.

Treborough Hill equestrian sports venue is just over a mile away and we are very close to the Coleridge Way a 50-mile walking and bridleway.

The ancient harbour town of Watchet is just 7 miles away. It's a small picturesque town nestled on the West Somerset coastline, but-packs a lot in! It has an active Marina, Steam train station, Old Port, museums, shops, restaurants, pubs and takeaways! From Easter onwards there is a weekly Wednesday market and every first Sunday of the month, there’s an eclectic craft, artisan and food market.

Wheddon Cross (approx 7 miles away) is argued to be the highest cross on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and Dunkers Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles further on from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years Wheddon Cross has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and a park and ride system operates from the village to enable visitors easy access to the "carpet of snowdrops". Wheddon Cross has a mini-supermarket with long opening hours, a petrol station and a village pub too.

In the opposite direction, the small town of Wiveliscombe is about 7 miles away, and the county town of Taunton is about 15 miles. Other nearby tourist attractions include Minehead, Porlock Weir, Lynton & Lynmouth, Tarr Steps and Boscombe Village.
