"The staff get 12 out 10. Choice of different items in buffet are amazing. This is a 4* and they had king prawns on dinner menu on 21st december with the lower rates before Christmas. We are writing this review from a 5* hotel in malindi owned by a large italian chain on christmas eve and there is no dreams of having prawns on menu. Hands down an amazing experience. Only downside is the general cleanliness. The loos near the pool stink really bad "

Watamu itself is a bit less interesting in the off season (I.e. most restaurants are closed, as are many of the gear shops), but it’s still lovely if not a tad bit windy. Staff were amazing! "This is a great place to relax, but there is not a lot to do at the hotel or within walking distance. The plunge pools with villa are fantastic! Due to the tides in the area, you can only swim in the ocean at high tide, and the water has a lot of seaweed. The restaurant is amazing, we really enjoyed all of our meals and the staff were always friendly and helpful."

Finally, we spent our night without electricity (two basic lamps were provided instead for the room and bathroom). The electric generator was not reliable - lights were blinking all the time.
