The Neighborhood:
Thomas Circle is a traffic circle in Northwest Washington, D.C., in the United States. It is located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue NW, Vermont Avenue NW, 14th Street NW, and M Street NW.[1] It is named for George Henry Thomas, a Union Army general in the American Civil War.
Thomas Circle was constructed as a traffic circle as part of the original L'Enfant Plan for the District of Columbia. The circle was named for American Civil War General George Henry Thomas.

A horse-drawn railway installed around the Circle in the mid-1860s led to development to the north. Paved roads and sewers soon followed, and the area quickly attracted wealthy residents. Luther Place Memorial Church was built in 1874.

In December 1938, construction began on a $680,000 tunnel that would allow Massachusetts Avenue's through-traffic to pass under the circle.[4] This underpass opened on March 14, 1940. North-south running through-traffic lanes cutting through the center of the circle were added to improve traffic flow.

In October 2006, the D.C. Department of Transportation completed a 2.5-year, $6 million reconstruction of the Thomas Circle. The project included the addition of bike lanes, pedestrian crosswalks mid-circle (which hadn't previously existed), new in-circle traffic lights, better street lighting, and new sidewalks and landscaping. The biggest change, however, came with the elimination of the 14th Street through-lanes. The circle was restored to its original design according to the L'Enfant Plan, which allowed for a larger landscaped area inside the circle. The rehabilitation of Thomas Circle won an Honorable Mention in the "Historic Preservation" category of the Federal Highway Administration's Excellence in Highway Design awards for 2006.

As of the start of the 21st century, Thomas Circle is adjacent to the southern boundary of the Greater 14th Street and Logan Circle Historic District. The circle marks the boundary between "downtown 14th Street" and the "uptown 14th Street", the latter of which is a rapidly gentrifying gay neighborhood within the city. D.C. city officials now consider Thomas Circle to be a "gateway" to the Logan Circle, Shaw, and U Street Corridor neighborhoods.

In April 2014, Thomas Circle became the eastern terminus of the M Street Cycle Track. This 1.4 miles (2.3 km), west-bound only bicycling lane extends to 28th Street NW.

The property is an only room apartment with an en-suite bathroom and another toilet. Enclosed dining room with French windows has a bed and has been called another room. There’s no proper ventilation in that room and it doesn’t block street light well so it’s hard to sleep in that room. There’s no communal bathroom. Everyone would need to go through the bedroom of the master bedroom occupant to get to the en-suite shower which is a huge nuisance to all and is against American building code. TV has no basic cable channels. YouTube tv doesn’t work properly because wifi is very weak. TV only has Netflix, prime and YouTube. Can’t get Disney or Apple TV. Apartment is advertised as ground floor but it’s lower ground floor which affects wifi signal strength. Central heating unit is very loud and is next to the master bedroom. The ceiling is very thin and the occupant upstairs was very loud every evening during our 10 day stay. Both property managing firm and Vrbo was unhelpful when we highlighted above issues and VRBO said they only help with properties that are uninhabitable. Whole experience came across as rogue trading by the property managers and VRBO. Positive points- great location to all monuments and museums. Good kitchen and washing machine/dryer.

Cute place
Nice, but furniture was uncomfortable. Bed mattresses had dips in them that made backaches. futon/couch in living room was not comfortable to sit on (did not use it for sleeping).

Great location but unit needs some attention
We arrived and the dishwasher was full, laundry in the dryer. Utensils are sparse. Ice maker broken, fireplace was broken as well. Different color paint used for touch ups. Bare wood replacement boards which didn’t match and were t sealed or treated. Wifi info is on label on coffee table but you can’t read anything as it’s worn out! Parking is very difficult as it’s only street parking. There is a list of recommended parking lots but none let you keep car overnight so we had a far walk back to unit late at night every night but one night that we got one just a block or two up road! Corporate responds to you but refers most things to local contact who was very difficult to get in touch with! We were out in museums when they sent text asking to enter to look at broken fireplace and I didn’t see it until later but they went ahead snd just entered without permission. It is unfortunate because this unit could be nice and comfortable but the sofa is the most uncomfortable I’ve ever sat on. The unit is in a great location and close to all museums and monuments. I will say beds were very comfortable!
