The Neighborhood:
The actual Eastern Market is the Capitol Hill neighborhood’s most popular business, and the main reason nonresidents visit the neighborhood. The market, located on 7th Street SE between Independence Avenue SE and C Street SE, is the nucleus for the Capitol Hill neighborhood and a popular destination for DC visitors. The market includes the South Hall Market where merchants sell fresh produce, baked goods, meats, and deli products. Fresh Tuesdays Farmers Market features local farmers’ produce, meat, and cheese. During the weekend the market promotes The Weekend Farmers Line where local farmers sell produce year-round and The Weekend Outdoor Market that includes local artists selling handmade arts and crafts. Eastern Market also offers The North Hall Event Space, an arts and community center, inside the market where locals can hold meetings, wedding receptions, and other events.
Locals frequent the market daily to buy fresh produce and meat. Eastern Market has been compared to a very European way of living with residents buying their daily meals fresh from the market. As a community hub, the market has become the focal point of the neighborhood.
Getting Around:
Travel by METRO subway with the nearest station only a 4-minute walk away at Eastern Market station, on the ORNG/BL/SLV lines
Hop on the METRO bus to get around town up the block at 8th St & E Street SE bus stop.
Rent a bike at the nearest Capital bikeshare: At The Eastern Market METRO, or alternatively at 11th & C Streets SE
Lime, Bird, Lyft, and Uber JUMP scooters (and bikes) are readily available on nearly every corner of the city wherever you can find one, rent them easily using their app and your smartphone.
Other Things to Note:
Please note that this home does not offer a washer and dryer, so please be prepared with extra clothes and/or to take a trip to the nearest laundromat. Please also note that this is a historic rowhouse that shares a wall with neighbors. Our neighbors are friendly and respectful. We have always found them to be very quiet but occasionally you hear some noise, which is part of city living!
Interaction with Guests:
While we offer self contact-less check-in for your convenience, we are only ever a message away should you need anything at all during your stay.
