It was a clean property, new decor, the ownership was extremely helpful in our request for extra dishware and spoons. The beds were comfortable, and the decoration was modern. Felt safe with the security doors, cameras, and access areas. Host provided ear plugs too.
A note about the surrounding area: H Street and 18th is the edge of gentrification. If you want to see DC in transition this is classic location to witness history in the making. The street car runs close by and makes it convenient to get to the National mall and Union Station.
As suburbanites from Minnesota (think 'little house on the prairie'), this was a good eye opening experience for our three young boys. Upon arrival we had to walk right past a large neighborhood social event that basically hung out (from 10am - 1am) several feet from the front entrance and didn't leave for our entire stay. They never bothered us and cleaned up their chairs in the evening. We decided to stop watching movies, and just watched out the window and what seemed to be a community social with smoking, dancing, food, and random visits from people exchanging money for something we couldn't see.
Nights were loud with fireworks and load bomb sounds that shook the building (our kids slept right through the sounds). This was a great way to see the true city. The sounds, smells, sirens, firetrucks, music, laughing, fireworks, unmuffled cars racing on the street all lend to a 5-star experience on H and 18th!
