We had a wonderful time in Wasa! We had a few surprises about our stay, however, and so it’s important to consider that while we had an amazing trip, it could have been very, very different if it had been a full house that weekend.
We didn’t realize that shared kitchen meant that potentially we would could have been sharing the kitchen with two or three other groups. And had that been the case, there would have been very little in terms of social space.
We also didn’t realize there was no eating permitted in rooms, which would have forced us to share space with anyone else that would have been there. All of that aside, we didn’t have that problem, as we serendipitously didn’t have any other guests to consider for the duration of our stay.
Mary and James are lovely people, and gave great recommendations about other places in the area to visit. Lazy Lake was an absolute must-visit; as was Lussier Hotsprings in Whiteswan Provinical Park.
Their extensive lawn at the property is beautifully maintained, but is a mositquito haven, and they are not keen on insect repellent, as it impacts the grass. I can say that the mosquito presence was…oppressive. And my poor children’s legs were in terrible shape at the end of the stay.
The lake itself is incredibly beautiful, James and Mary maintain a beautiful floating dock, and it’s a kayak/ SUP dream. We are told the water is very high this year, so while there wasn’t much of a beach, we didn’t mind.
We will definitely visit Wasa again. It’s a hidden gem!
