360 Degree Views filled with Wildlife
My 2 dogs and I had an amazing time at the Roundhose! The property is extremely quiet and relaxing. We saw tons of wildlife including pronghorn antelope, mule deer and fox. Staying here was a great experience and Deb was a wonderful host. I recommend booking a trip!

Beautiful remote location
Amazing remote area, so quiet and peaceful. But know what you're signing up for, as the description says, there is no running water and it has a covered and private porta potty that is an outside the cabin (attached to the cabin but access is from other side of the deck). Fresh water (big closed jugs) and firewood are provided. In the warmer months you may want to bring a small camping gas stove as the wood fireplace works fine but also heats up the cabin a lot. Confirm with Deb to make sure that's okay though.

Great overall stay- troubles with access
The cabin itself was quaint, off grid, and adorable! Because of that you do have to do work: be prepared to chop your own wood, stoke your own fire, walk uphill to access the cabin, and use the bathroom in the cold. Our group liked all of those things but its not for everyone. They provide plenty of kitchen supplies, fire supplies/wood, games/books, and even offered us snowshoes/skis to use. The outlet in the cabin ONLY connects to USB. The only reason our rating went down is issues with access. We drove a 4WD car and brought chains even though the weather was forecasted well and got snowed in once and almost again the next day. The property owners were endlessly helpful and accommodating in this and even plowed out a snowdrift we would never have made it past- but the county never came to plow the road in our 3 day stay and we were told even when they do its usually past 11 am. Its a great spot for a staycation in the winter but if you were planning on using it as a homebase to adventure from in winter months like us- be aware of the risk.

impossible to find, horrid directions, bad communication from owner
We couldn't even find this place. The directions the owner gave us were like something out of a childrens fantasy book and they did not communicate with us at all on how to find their property. It was impossible to find and we didn't even end up staying because we got lost due to how poor their directions were. Such a waste!!

Perfect spot for fall foliage! There’s hiking right down the road. The bunk bed mattresses were comfier than expected! Wood burning oven is not hard to use. There is a hike to the cabin from where you park your car, so keep that in mind when booking this spot.

Peaceful Haven
The Redtail Roundhouse was such a gem. The view was amazing and it was so peaceful and quiet. I especially loved spending time reading on the swing and staring up at the stars at night (hello, Milky Way!). Deb was a great host and I can tell she loves what she does - hosting people and helping them create wonderful memories. I highly recommend this property!

The needed getaway to wilderness
My friend and I decided to take a short trip to the mountains to unwind and disconnect. This was just the trip we needed. The Red-Tail Round House was perfect for what we were looking for and what the listing stated. The views were breathtaking and the stars at night were overwhelming. Our hosts were so easy to communicate with. They provided us with all of the amenities listed in their write-up. They were there to help and they were also respectful of our desire to be secluded in a beautiful place. We took my anxious dog with us and even he found peace and balance during the trip. He slept like a baby! I loved the Red-Tail Round House and will be returning for future getaways. If you're looking for a peaceful, rustic, and well-maintained place to stay, this is a great location for just that.

Nice little getaway for two dogs and their humans.
This place is very cute and comfortable, and one of the nicer "rustic" places I've ever stayed. The hike up from the truck with food and gear was a bit challenging, but we were blessed to get some help from Pat and his ATV. We had beautiful views, and the dogs loved running around. The wood stove works great for heat. Deb and her family were very responsive and so nice. Maybe next time we'll get to see some moose. :0)

Setting is gorgeous, and having the whole property to ourselves was decadent. A great place to unplug (even tho we had signal) and unwind. Snowshoeing for hours and the views never got old. Could have kept going except for the wintery wind. Our dog had a great time too super pet friendly.

Magical experience with a catch
The yurt was beautiful, relatively easy to get to, and provided my partner and I with the perfect romantic getaway. Unfortunately, we didn't anticipate a snowstorm that occurred the first night. The county road was plowed once and conditions worsened throughout the day a after the plow. We drove into Walden for some supplies and on the way back, about a mile away from the yurt, we slid off the road into a snowbank. Because of my cars low ground clearance (Subaru Impreza), a patch of thick snow that was blown onto the road made us slide towards the side and into the snow bank. No damage to the car or to either me or my partner, and the managers of the property were able to tow us out of the side of the road no problem. We were extremely grateful, but we had to leave before a second wave of the storm came in the second night. They escorted us through the county road until we got to the highway to ensure we were safe, and we are profoundly/passionately grateful. That all being said, Deb tried to (quite sternly) convince us to stay for the second night despite the fact that we wouldn't be able to get out the next day on time. It was a difficult decision, but we had to do what was best for us. She then scolded the day after for risking the safety of her family (the escorts). I understand and sympathize with her perspective, yet I wish it were handled better, especially because the kind men who chose to help us disagreed with her about her safety concerns, and they weren't concerned themselves. They drove an f250. She billed without any prior notice $150 for helping us, stating we saved maybe $1000 for a tow - I wanted to tip her $100. Instead of the tip, I respect her decision to bill us instead, although it does leave us feeling more sour about the whole experience. Deb is a very kind and loving woman who genuinely cares that her guests have a good experience. She cares deeply for the safety of her guests and her family.

Good “indoor camping” option
I enjoyed my stay. The location is great as long as you can do a short but pretty challenging walk up a steep hill from your car to the cabin. I should have asked more questions when booking. I did not know the twin beds were actually bunk beds or that the shower was located down the hill in a separate structure. The toilet was a compost toilet in an adjoining room to the cabin. It was very clean and easy to use. The access to the commode was difficult as the entrance steps were being repaired. Although a few things were missing Deb and Pat were very responsive getting them to us very promptly. Although there is no running water 5 gallons of potable water were brought to us on arrival. Since power is limited we were unable to use our CPAP machines but we were able to charge our phones. The outdoor propane grill was on a shaky table but it provided a functional cooking capability. I would stay here again with a much greater awareness of the cabin being off the grid.
