"The property is in an incredible location with breathtaking views. Even though it’s on a public beach, it still felt super exclusive and private. The staff were absolutely amazing at making us feel welcome and taking care of us. The hospitality was top-notch fromthe duty manager, to every single staff member, including the restaurant staff who went above and beyond to pamper us. One of the chefs, was incredible. "The hotel was amazing, the staff very attentive. The local wildlife will keep you entertained and the views from the restaurant/roof top bar are amazing along with a roof top pool! The breakfast where amazing, lots of variety, from western to sri Lankan. The lunch menu/Al carte was ok portion size good. However the one fault that I personally would say even though the menu was exactly the same for the evening menu (al carte) the portion size shrunk. Would I stay here again, absolutely!"

"This is a generally excellent hotel. No more on that need be said. You won't be disappointed. Except that the breakfast tea is terrible. There is just one thing that we noticed on our last day. Breakfast is from 7am, our taxi was a 0730, a fairly typical departure time with either a flight or busy day scheduled. So, any hotel guest who is there right on 7am is likely to be on a short timescale. The hotel should recognise this, and the staff should be aware. It felt like nobody was really...

"Highly recommended!! The location is great, my room was spacious and well equipped, the food is plentiful and delicious and all the staff are happy, friendly and totally adorable!! If you're staying over Christmas/New Year, the extra effort with decorations and evening schedules is really lovely - the best I've experienced. "The hotel is ina quiet part of Unawatuna. You wake to the sound of the waves. Peacocks and moneys are all around. The pool is lovely and restaurant has good food/ drinks and service. The reception staff were fabulous and took care of all my needs. "

"I cannot recommend this hotel enough, perfect, staff rooms food location amazing, easy walk into town down the beach, you can walk the road we found it easier getting a tuck tuck if we didn’t walk down the beach. We ate in the hotel for 6 nights as the food was so amazing. Cocktails are great 😀, room was very spacious and cleaned daily. What I loved was it was small very authentic with amazing see view and sofa on balcony to watch the sunsets, do not hesitate to book."

"Very friendly staff and helpful manager. Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing. Room (deluxe) very large and provided extra bed for kids. Short 10 min walk to galle fort. Room very clean and great housekeeping. Pool towels provided. Some minor maintenance issues could do with addressing around pool (tile grouting). "

"Wow.... we were blown away when we first arrived at the Villa even though we arrived during a big storm! We stayed over Christmas and New Year with my parents and my teenage boys and we all had a wonderful time. Susantha, Yasiru, Hindy and Bandullah were all fantastic and really helped to make our holiday truly magical. The villa is beautiful and we all had plenty of space to not get on top of each other. "Very welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble.They had a very good restaurant with Moroccan and Sri Lankan food. Rooms are large as are bathrooms and right in the middle of the fort so walking everywhere is easy. We would return."

Amazing stay, highly recommend!

"I've just returned from a two night stay at the Bartizan and it was nothing short of splendid! The only downside was that stay was too short. My room was stunning and incredibly spacious. It had a very comfortable bed, cold AC, a beautiful balcony with dining table and comfortable chairs to sit and watch the sea. Breakfast could be delivered to the room or you could dine in the private courtyard downstairs. You choose daily from several options/styles. The two I tried were both delicious and quite a big meal. The hotel has been beautifully renovated and the staff were exceedingly kind, friendly and accommodating. They really went out of their way to help me have a wonderful stay and really contributed to my experience visiting Southern Sri Lanka. It is a boutique hotel, privately owned and in a historic building, so if this isn't your thing and you are looking for something more bland and more like a big standardized US chain then this might not be for you, but if you are drawn to Galle because of the history, the beauty of the architecture and the sea then I highly recommend. "
