Spend the day biking or hiking during the warmer months or come and experience the beautiful winters and ski the vast trail systems. Chaney Lake is a 520 acre Lake in Gogebic County, Michigan. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including crappie, perch, walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, bream/bluegill, smallmouth bass and pumpkinseed sunfish here. Alternate names for this lake include Channel Lake. The Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort is 25 miles away and is the perfect place for those who are looking to try their hand at winter sports! The resorts offer plenty of outdoor activities that include skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and more! The Blackjack Mountain (20.5 miles north) is another option for outdoor activities during the winter months.

Amazing Stay
We love this property! This was our second time staying, and we definitely hope to be back. The house is very spacious with many sitting areas to gather The weather was perfect, so we were able to spend plenty of time outside, which was very private and peaceful. The large deck and lawn gave plenty of space to play yard games and the dock provided a great swimming area. There were also 2 kayaks and a canoe to use. Having access to the large garage was incredibly convenient for being able to park our UTV inside. Highly recommend this property!

Gorgeous home, but disappointed there was no hot water!
The property was gorgeous overall, clean, spacious, etc. and the property mgmt did allow us to check in a couple hours before normal check in time. Had it not been for the alarm, which randomly went off a few times our first evening (little deal), and no hot water (big deal) I would have given this place 5 stars. Pretty disappointing and not a good feeling for all of us to go two days without showering given no one wanted to take an ice cold shower. I notified the property mgmt group about as they really should address/fix before their next guests stay there. Not sure they cared all that much that our stay was impacted by this.

Beautiful House and Location
Everything was fantastic! The house was very roomy, clean, and comfortable. There was plenty of toys and space upstairs for the kids to play. The location was beautiful; the leaves were starting to change color which was nice. Even though it was a little chilly, we were still able to enjoy plenty of camp fires and take the kayaks out.

Super Clean House and Great View
We had a little trouble finding the property with the directions that were given because they had the road to find as Lake Shore not Lakeshore. Once we found the house we were pleasantly pleased! We rent houses quite frequently for vacation and this house was one of the CLEANEST we have rented!! The view is spectacular and very relaxing!

Gorgeous lakeside property to unwind / unplug
Everything about this property is exactly as described! The home itself is gorgeous - very spacious and well-laid-out. Pantry is well stocked with staples and kitchen is well-equipped for cooking. The kayaks were a ton of fun, and the view of the lake from the dock at sunset was stunning. NOTE 1: They're not kidding about the lack of internet - AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile all had borderline useless service, and there was no WiFi available in the home. You must be prepared to fully unplug. NOTE 2: The mosquitos during summer are dense, aggressive, and exist both inside and outside the home. Be prepared to shower in bug repellant or suffer. We had one minor issue which Vacasa / host were quick to reply to and take care of.

Christmas Getaway
This is a beautiful home in a great location! The house was very clean and had everything we needed. There was even holiday decorations and a Christmas tree which created a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere for our holiday stay. The fireplace and bonfire pit were our favorite! (We had wood delivered from a local firewood provider.) Secluded location but yet close enough to skiing and other activities. Amazing place to spend the holidays - Thank you! We will be back!

Gorgeous secluded property
We stayed at this house in September 2021; Myself, my husband, my 8 year old son and my mom. We read the reviews ourselves many times, and basically everything we read was true. Its a gorgeous, and very spacious, house. The setting is amazing if you are looking for seclusion. There are some things that I would say are most helpful to know, if you are looking to book this place. *We had a hard time finding out about cell coverage before we reserved this place. I will tell you that we have AT&T. We did have coverage, most of the time, at the cabin. But we are talking about 1 maybe 2 bars. It was intermittent and definitely not reliable. Since there is no wifi here, you are truly disconnected. *The house is isolated in a big way. You turn off of a 'highway' and travel about 10 minutes down a gravel road to get to the very end, where this cabin is. Leaving and coming back multiple times in a day is really more trouble than its worth. *The cabin does have supplies, but I would suggest not relying on those. For example, there was no laundry soap for us so we had to use our own. That's not an issue, as long as you prepare for it. So I would bring dish soap, laundry soap, all your normal supplies. *The water here off the dock/shoreline is really lovely, but very rocky. I would highly recommend water shoes as that then made it possible to travel quite far off the shore. Its shallow so you can walk a long way! *Bring food, make your own meals, there are very few food places anywhere within a reasonable distance and none of those are safe if you are very COVID cautious like we are. *We had no issues with the home being dirty. All I would say here is that we stayed near the end of the summer season and the kitchen was weirdly stocked with everything other renters had left over the summer. So if you would enjoy fairly full cabinets with leftover items from other people, this is a great plus! For us, we wanted cabinet space to put away the stuff we brought but every cabinet was full so it all just sat out on the counter for a week. *The freezer will leak on you. Seems like they turn it off or very low between customers which means we had water on the floor several times. We eventually just put a towel down and kept it there the whole stay. *The front door keypad has an odd feature I thought I would mention. Once you enter the code to lock it, if you try to pull the door (to check the lock) the keypad screams at you. It is STARTLING!

As advertised!
I think that's the best review you can give when you get exactly what you are promised. The house was exactly what they described and very clean and orderly when we arrived. The lake views are great, lots of water fowl about but not many fish during our stay. Beds were comfortable, kitchen utensils on hand were more than adequate, washer and dryer worked great (and we're also nice and clean). There were 3 kayaks and a canoe on hand which is nice and the fire pit location was great ( bring wood as it isn't supplied and there's nothing lying around, most of the land around the house is private so don't go trespassing in search of free wood). Lake traffic was minimal and quiet, no jet skis or speedboats to ruin the peace of the place. If you don't like staying in overly built up tourist areas then this should work well for you. This is a great off the beaten path place to stay while you explore the surrounding areas, Porcupine Mountains, Ashland, Bayfield, Apostle Islands, Sylvania Wilderness, Copper Falls State Park and much more are an easy hour or so away. Groceries were available in Mercer, WI and Ironwood and on a smaller scale in Wakefield. Check in and check out are as simple as can be. Summer or winter I would stay here again if the chance arose.

Nice cabin in the UP
Overall this was a decent rental. Let’s get the bad out of the way: it was dirty at check in. Sand left in the mud room, old water bottle under the bed, chips on the floor in the hall, a half eaten candy corn on the rug, a sticky trail of red juice running from the kitchen to the washer… not a great first impression. It was bad enough we had to vacuum and mop after arriving, and we are by no means clean freaks. Upkeep- showing some age, a couple of cracked steps on the porch, things like the handle on the screen door falling off, shower knob came off as well. Towel holder coming out of the wall. Location- private and quiet, right on the lake; it was great. Some nice amenities: not only canoe and kayaks, life jackets, binoculars, grill, etc, but also there was some wood, lighters, charcoal, kids toys and other things we didn’t expect. It helped out. Overall it was a pretty decent place, just sucked that we had to clean it ourselves, and does need a little handyman TLC. Not sure I would go back to this specific property in current state, as there are competing cabins with better upkeep and cleanliness.

Home was beautiful and the family had a great time . Couple things that should be addressed is the fridge wouldn’t stop leaking and the air conditioning just quit pumping cool air which was a huge bummer. The house is well equipped and the kids had a blast catching fish. If your looking for a swimming lake this isn’t the place for you ! Bummer we had to bring our own firewood too!

Swan cove
This is a beautiful home on a gorgeous location, that is very remote. We and several of our friends had trouble finding it using gps. Thanks to Dan G for coming to find us and leading us there! We found using Lakeshore as one word got us to the correct road, not two words as listed on the website. It is very functional for cooking and entertaining, watching sunsets and stars.

The home was phenomenal. We enjoy the Solitude and having the lake basically to ourselves. Canoes and kayaks were a big bonus.
