Wagait Beach is a popular location for deep sea fishing. There is fantastic fishing from the wharf and beaches or launch your boat from either the Mandorah or Bynoe Harbour boat ramps if you prefer to fish the harbour, inlets and tidal creeks.
Fishing, bird-watching, exploring WW2 relics, beach-combing or just old fashioned relaxing are some of the activities available to you at Wagait Beach. Snooze in the hammock, watch the sun set from the deck overlooking the sparkling in-ground pool and bushland or cool off in the pool with a coldie before lighting the BBQ to cook your catch of the day. The local shop is nearby for those who prefer some-one else to do the cooking!!!
Take a drive and explore. See majestic magnetic termite mounds, wetlands prolific with birdlife and a natural spring hidden in a tiny pocket of rainforest. Keep an eye out for a wild brumby or two!
Visit the last resting place of the 'Milady' a crashed WW2 American Liberator bomber. Check out the remains of the WW2 submarine cable that stretched across Darwin Harbour from West Point, near the Mandorah Wharf, to East Point, on the other side of the harbour. Also, look for the remnants of the many WW2 gun turrets scattered along the coast.
Stroll along the picturesque beaches and marvel at how close we really are to Darwin but at the same time a whole different world away. Check out our Wagait Beach Bush Retreat Facebook page for more photos of Cox Peninsula.
