I originally booked this studio apartment based on the affordable price and the convenient location. However, upon arriving, I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the unit is. The space is small - similar to a hotel room with the addition of a small kitchen. But the furnishings, layout, and historic space add a depth of character that made me feel right at home.
The location is excellent. I was able to take the light rail (blue line) from the airport to the US Bank Stadium station, which is a few minutes walk from the apartment. That evening I walked west a few blocks and found a delicious Indian restaurant. There were numerous other eating options in close proximity. The next day, I walked back to the US Bank Stadium station and took the light rail (green line) to downtown St Paul to explore the other Twin City.
The space itself was delightful. I grew up in historic homes and apartments in MN, but have lived in newer apartments in TX for the last 4 years. Walking up to this historic brownstone, opening the heavy wood front door, and seeing the charming historic details (including a clawfoot tub and an exposed pipe running floor-to-ceiling) made me feel right at home. The furnishings were simple but inviting. The color palette was light and muted, making the room feel larger than it is. There is a comfortable armchair and a small sitting table with two chairs. The layout and minimalist furniture means there's plenty of clearances space for moving around, but just enough furniture for practical living.
I didn't use the stove, but there are pots and pans for cooking if so inclined. The fridge was well stocked with sodas, sparkling water, and bottled water. There was also some fruit and small snack bags. When I visited, it was hot outside, but the room was kept at a very comfortable temperature with a window A/C unit. My only complaint - and it's fairly small - is that there was a decent amount of light in the room at night, even with the curtains drawn. There must be a light right outside the windows, so there's not a lot that can be done about this.
Chris, the owner, was very attentive despite being out of town when I visited. I texted him when we arrived, he asked if everything looked OK, and he checked in periodically to make sure we had no issues or complaints. There is also a caretaker living in the building who was available if there were problems.
Overall, this was an excellent place to stay, I'd certainly return.
