Laukapu Forest Cottage (LFC) is a spacious studio, vacation-rental cottage handcrafted as a "Work of Heart".
LFC has a well-equipped kitchen, with refrigerator/freezer, electric range/oven, microhood, toaster, coffee and tea making supplies. LFC has a private bathroom, with a tiled shower.

Lovely Oasis
Unique and wonderful little studio. We had everything we needed and the hosts were extremely gracious. The welcome chocolates and good coffee were especially appreciated! The location is very convenient to the Park.

Beautiful place in a beautiful location!
The cottage is perfect nestled in the rainforest! Kathryn was very kind and friendly and we had a couple nice visits. The location is very close to VNP and a nice drive to Hilo and the waterfalls.

Kathryn is a warm and extremely helpful host; she was prompt in her responses to my questions from start to finish, from the booking process through to checkout. Wonderful stay near the National Park
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the property that was just 5 mins away from the national park. At first glance, be prepared to be stunned by the wood craftmanship and rainforest feels that you'll be surrounded by. Highly recommend!

Great location and very accommodating host
The cottage was perfect for our visit. We visited Volcano NP during the day and went back for sunset at 4:00AM the next day to see the lava flow. Kathryn was a great host and everything worked out perfectly.

A little piece of paradise in the rainforest
Wonderful cottage for two wanting to visit Volcanoes National Park. Everything from the charming walkway to the soft and cozy bed was just as described. My husband and I were charmed and informed about all the best eateries and places to see by Kathryn, who was a terrific host. Highly recommended!

Relaxing in paradise
This rental was amazing. The design of the cottage is really cool and it’s situated back in the woods for peace and quiet. It is minutes away from the national park and great local spots for food and entertainment. Kathryn was extremely helpful in planning and communicative about what to select with our arrival. We would definitely like to stay here again the the future.

Amazing cottage and beautiful surroundings!
Beautiful, unique cottage did not disappoint. Loved the surrounding rain forest, and boy did it rain! Host was very kind and went above and beyond to answer any questions we had and even had some umbrellas and flash lights ready for use to stay dry and check out the volcano glow at night. Highly recommended!

Enchanting Jungle Escape
Staying in Laukapu Forest Cottage (LFC) was such a wonderful experience. The cottage is small but incredibly dreamy. You're surrounded by the Hawaiian jungle, pheasants visit the lanai in the mornings, and if you keep your eyes peeled you might spot a boar running around. The owners have been in the vacation rental business for a while and this is evident in their hospitality. It was a truly enchanting experience

Wonderful Cottage
This custom cottage was perfect for my husband and me. We spent two nights while visiting Volcano National Park. We dined outdoors on the patio in the rainforest and it was lovely. The bed was comfortable and very much appreciated after a long day of hiking. The shower worked great with great water pressure and temperature. Our host was kind and available if we needed anything. The cottage is well stocked with amenities. Looking forward to coming back again.

Architectural delight in a rain forest
What a wonderful and unusual experience. The cottage is perfect. It was built by the owner and the design and attention to detail is amazing. It has everything you could possibly want for your stay including great coffee and breakfast items all you need is milk. The host who lives next door meets you at the cottage and is a delight to talk to and get tips for your stay. This cottage is in a rain forest and it does rain pretty much all of the time. But only at the cottage when you take the 5 min drive to the village it was dry. Great location for visiting Volcano National Park we also played golf near by and visited a winery and Orchid store nearby. Highly recommend this cottage for anyone wanting to visit the area.

EXCEPTIONAL Volcano Village Cottage!
To start, the booking process and communications with the hosts were efficient and effortless. They provided all of the information for the cottage and the area you could possibly need. The cottage is what I call a work of art, or as they call it a work of heart. The craftsmanship of the cottage and its grounds are truly second to none. The unit itself is very well stocked, everything you need for cooking, eating, relaxing & exploring. The bathroom was perfect and well stocked with toiletries. The bed was comfortable & cozy with plenty of blankets and even electric blankets. TV & VCR with CD/DVD's. High speed WIFI. Outside has many great areas to sit, eat or relax. The unit is close to Volcano galleries, eateries and the National park. It was great to meet our host Kathryn, who made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some great background on the cottage built by her husband. She is truly a gracious host and a wealth of local knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to future stays. This cottage stands out!
We give 5 stars in all aspects of our stay! All info was shared clearly previous to our arrival. by Peggy and Kathryn. We were greeted warmly by Kathryn. She has a great insight on how much involvement guests wish to have with their host. The quality craftmanship of the cottage, its furnishings & exterior walkways just completed in 2017 by Kenneth are seldom seen these days. Everything we needed to be comfortable was at hand. Though it was chilly & rainy for the three days, it just added to the fresh aroma and visiual appeal of the forest while we were warm & cozy inside with a nice selection of DVD music and movies as well as books. Delicious coffee & teas as well as spices & cereals are supplied. The kitchen was well-stocked with appliances, utensils, dishes etc. Perishables can be purchased before arrival or at the 2 small groceries just 5 inutes away in Volcano. Kathryn provides plenty of shopping information beforehand. And who can't be wowed with a box of Hawaiian chocolates on arrival! LauKapu Cottage will be our 1st choice on return or recommendation to friends. Mahalo nui loa!

Beautiful spot in the jungle
beautifully built place in Volcano giving access to the town, the park and then nearby to black sand beaches, coffee, Hilo, etc the setting is in the forest with a beautifully built building that is quiet and peaceful. Host interactions are top notch and super friendly and informative.

Forest Cottage
Easy check-in, lots of communication with the host. This was exactly as I expected it to be. It was a peaceful stay in a beautifully crafted cottage. To us it felt like “glamping” with a small kitchen and washer and dryer. We slept very well with the nature sounds all around us. If we ever came back to the big island. I would definitely stay again. Thai made our day at the volcano national park very easy and convenient.

Volcano stay
We wanted to stay close to the volcano on the Big Island. We found this property and decided to stay here. The host is very accommodating and has a wealth of information to share about the island. She is very pleasant and responsive. We would stay here again.
