Enjoy spectacular lake and ocean views, amazing sunsets and your own private beach year-round. This clean and comfortable, family-friendly house looks west across Lake Tashmoo and towards sunsets across the Vineyard Sound to the Elizabeth Islands. Absolutely lovely in summertime, the property offers special value to visitors attending Island weddings, family get-togethers and reunions of old friends in the ''shoulder months'' before and after peak season at seasonally lower costs. Available year-round.

COVID-19 Response - The house is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before each guest arrives. Our cleaning service uses only cleaning equipment and supplies we provide to insure they don’t bring in equipment or cleaning materials from other locations. Beds are made up with fresh linens, and we provide fresh towels and beach towels for all guests. All contact surfaces, including tables, counter tops and door handles are carefully wiped down with sanitizing solution before you move in.

With a new house built in 1999 on land our grandfather bought 100 years ago, ''Macy Tashmoo Pond'' is a cherished family treasure. Built on one and a half acres of prime lakefront just off Herring Creek Road, the house is only a mile from downtown Vineyard Haven. Featuring new appliances, high-speed cable service, a large parking lot and two-car garage, you will have all the convenience of home in a uniquely beautiful and private location. Enjoy convenient access to everything the Martha's Vineyard has to offer, or just relax and 'get away from it all.'

Relax in the sunshine on the main deck or in the shade of the covered upstairs balcony while you take in the spectacular views and feel the cool breeze coming off the lake. Walk about 50 yards from the house for kayaking, sailing, clamming or a pleasant swim in the lake. Or walk .3 miles to Wilfrid's Pond Beach or .7 miles to Lake Tashmoo Town Beach. Mink Meadows Golf Club is also within walking distance (.9 mile).

The calm waters of 270-acre Lake Tashmoo are great for kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding. If you don't have your own, Wind's Up in Vineyard Haven rents a variety of watercraft with convenient and affordable delivery and pickup to and from the house.

We installed brand-new energy-efficient kitchen appliances (range, refrigerator and dishwasher) and a new washer and dryer in 2019. A second refrigerator on the lower level provides extra storage for food and beverages. The house is fully equipped with all the cookware, tableware and silverware you will need. Cushioned window seats, books, toys and games are available to enhance your stay. This is our home and we look forward to sharing it with you and your family.

Amenities include premium cable TV with Netflix, high-speed internet and WiFi and telephone service with unlimited domestic calling. There are flat-screen televisions in the primary bedroom and the living room. The house is equipped with ample USB charging ports for your personal devices.

Sleeping accommodations include a king bed in the primary bedroom and queen beds in the other two bedrooms. All linens and towels are provided. Ocean breezes keep the temperature mild, but fans and central heat are available if needed.

There is a full house back-up power generator in the event of a power outage. Two Weber barbecue grills are available for your use.

Grab bars on the shower and bathtub, a first floor bedroom and a ramp to the entrance make the house accessible.

Massachusetts and local taxes of 11.7% apply to all rentals.

Comfy house in a gorgeous spot
This is a very comfortable house in a lovely location, right on Tashmoo Pond. The home, which has everything one could need, is very user-friendly, with many thoughtful and creative touches. The owners are responsive and easy to communicate with. We would stay here again.

A July 4th to remember
Loved this place. Great size, multiple puzzles, games, stocked kitchen and garage. A short trip in Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. The place was perfect there on the water although a short walk to Tashmoo Beach is recommended just be ready for a narrow winding dirt road back to the property.

Peaceful Vacation at Lake Tashmoo House
This house on Lake Tashmoo was amazing! It has beautiful views of the lake and ocean. It is walking distance to the ocean at Lake Tashmoo Town Beach. It is peaceful and secluded, but Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs are just a short drive for eating out and other activities. The well-equipped kitchen also made staying home for dinner a pleasure. Tim communicated well and this made the logistics of our stay really easy. A perfect place to experience MV!

Sibling birthday reunion
We planned a sibling reunion with spouses to celebrate our 65th, 70th and 75th birthdays together on the Vineyard. Tim was an incredible host, in correspondence with us before and during our stay to ensure that we had everything we needed and were well taken care of. The house is well stocked and we were greeted with a welcome basket of goodies to get our celebrating off to a good start. We had only one problem with an ornery oven that did not want to warm up. Tim had an electrician there within the day. The charcoal grill also saved the day as an easy backup. Although we were excited to explore the island, we spent most of our time on the deck, taking in the extraordinary view and watching one of the most magnificent sunsets we have ever seen. As promised, there is easy access to a swimming beach at the pond below the house, and an ocean beach an easy walk down the road. A very special spot!

A wonderful vacation.
We have been vacationing on MV for years so we are very familiar with many parts of the island. We love the area around Lake Tashmoo and this property was wonderfully situated with a private path to a wonderful beach. Warm shallow water never more than 5ft at high tide. Our 7 and 4 yo grand daughters loved it. Swimming and kayaking from the beach was wonderful. The property was clean and the property owner was very easy to communicate with. The sunsets were spectacular and we had clear skies enough to see the Milky Way one night and vivid lightning storms across the sound on another night. We cannot say enough about how well this property met our needs and exceeded our expectations.

Rest and relaxation at LakeTashmoo
This property was everything that we had hoped for! It was a wonderful oasis for a girls' weekend away! We loved that the house truly felt like a home. The view of the lake and the property was so beautiful. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the mornings and evenings looking at the stars. It's remote, but perfectly situated! Thank you Tim for being such a wonderful host from afar! I hope to go back again in the future!

Just what we needed
The house is very nice with many enjoyable features that make a stay there pleasant and worthwhile. The location is fabulous, beautiful views and close to anything you could want to get to on the island. We stayed in January and it was spectacular, I can't even imagine how nice it would be in the warmer months, but I do hope to go back and find out someday. :) But even more important than the beautiful property and location, the owners are probably the best I have ever worked with on one of these rentals. We needed a holiday weekend getaway and booked on relatively short notice. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and resulted in a cancelled ferry to the island and a good chance of cancellation for the return trip. The owners were more accommodating and flexible than we could have reasonably expected and really went above and beyond! Tim kept in solid communication with updates, refunded the night we could not make it to the island, and gave us amazing flexibility dealing with the storm on our departure day. That type of understanding alone says a lot about the family that owns this property and that you are truly considered a guest in their family getaway, not merely a quick buck on the side. This experience deserves the highest rating I can give and I will definitely rent this property again when we return to the Vineyard.

Stunning Views and Comfortable Family Stay on Lake Tashmoo
Our stay at The Macy Family house was such a wonderful and memorable weekend. The house is much larger and nicer than even the photos communicate and the view from the house, the private beach on Lake Tashmoo and the private beach down the private road are spectacular. The wrap around decks and the view from the kitchen sink and dining table were incredible to wake up to! We made great use of the working fireplace, the washer dryer and the three main floor bedrooms. The house is almost unbelievably well-equipped with everything you need for a Holiday dinner (we stayed over Christmas) and the house was toasty and comfortable the entirety of our stay. The privacy and quiet of the road really made you feel like you were in your own private world and the nature surrounding the property is easy to get lost in all while only a seven minute drive from the ferry landing and stores and restaurants in Vineyard Haven. It is essential to rent an SUV as the road to the house would have been completely impassable in my Subaru so I was grateful to the other reviews which noted the road's condition. It was not an easily maneuverable road and I would definitely have caused damage to my vehicle if I had tried to make my vehicle work. The Macys were consistent and thorough in their communication and have gone out fo their way to mail me a lost item from our stay.

Well equipped comfortable house with a view
The Macy’s offer an excellent house, full equipped, convenient to Vineyard Haven. The property is actually better than portrayed in the listing. The setting is perfect with a lovely sunset view from the large porch, though the potholed access road is annoying. The house offers all you need for a stay and The Macy’s are very accommodating. Eight adults felt right at home. I’d consider making this spot an annual visit!

Spacious & Comfortable House with a Magnificent View
The house was lovely and it was a perfect place for a large family or group of friends. We loved sitting on both the upper and lower deck with cocktails or coffee and enjoying the view. Very quiet and off the beaten path which needed an SUV or similar type of vehicle to access the house from the main road.

Vacationing in the Verdant Vineyard
Our stay at the Macy's lovely property was excellent in all regards. The house overlooks Lake Tashmoo and the ocean beyond. It is well kept and is clearly a labor of love for the owners. We have never stayed at a VRBO rental property that was so well supplied which, as any traveler will tell you, is a key to having a wonderful stay. The communications between myself and one of the owners, Tim Macy, was first rate all the way...from initial e-mail exchanges, to last minute questions. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the, ummm, exotic nature of Herring Creek Drive, the half-mile or so road to the property. Bring a vehicle with plenty of clearance. That said, once you arrive, the pastoral serenity of the place is simply wonderful. Thank you!

Magical week!
My family and I had a wonderful week at the Macy property. The views are everything they are described as and more. The owner thought of every detail to ensure we had a wonderful stay! The road to get to the house is bumpy (as described), but manageable and likely cuts down on tourist traffic to the private beach at the end of the road. We are looking forward to staying there again next year!

The Macy home has a great view of the pond and across it to the ocean and sunset. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding right from the property. Every morning we biked to Vineyard Haven for scones. Anything you could need is here for you. Beach towels, beach chairs, cookware for whatever you want to make, puzzles, bandaids, plenty of clothes hangers… you get the idea. Great to have wood floors instead of carpets in a rental. Being able to store our bikes in the garage out of the rain was a nice bonus. The main thing to consider before booking is whether or not you can handle no AC for sleeping.

Fantastic location
I have been going to the Vineyard for 45 years. My needs have changed over the years, but I have to say this house was one of the best houses that I have ever rented. If you want a place where you do not have to get into your car or leave the house to have a wonderful day, then this is the place for you. The views are spectacular. My family swam in the water in front of the house, we rented kayaks for the week, rode our bikes and walked into town. Of course you can always get in your car to get to your other favorite spots on the island. I almost do not want to give the place such a great review because I want to keep it a secret just for me! Was the house brand new, no, but it was very clean and all of the appliances were new and upscale. The place was well equipped and had everything that you could possibly need. Fully stocked kitchen, beach chairs and towels, linens, and more. My family and I loved our week! I give the house my highest recommendation.

There is a fabric of family hospitality and thoroughness and care that was woven through out our stay. Always a text away if anything went wrong. And nothing did! The perfect family retreat.
My wife and I, along with our 2 daughters and son-in-law were fortunate to find the Macys gorgeous home on VRBO, and had a magnificent week there. The pictures do not do it justice. The views are magnificent, the house is fully stocked, and Tim is available almost immediately when needed. Comfortable beds, combined with 3 floors of living space to spread out in helped make the stay perfect. We cannot WAIT to get back there!
