Peace and tranquility in wonderful France
The grounds of the (in part) 13th century manor house extend over many acres providing visitors with a variety of environments to relax in. Sunbeds by the pool, deckchairs in the garden, outside dining tables or shaded relaxed seating. - Just take your pick. Good weather will allow you to make use of the gas BBQ as you prepare food bought in one of the many markets held in the beautiful local towns and villages. Of course there's no end of good restaurants to choose from in the region of you don't fancy doing your own catering. So laze around, explore or swim and canoe in the rivers. You can't go wrong. Thoroughly recommend.

Magnificent and Relaxing Stay in Perigord
David and Kate host a beautiful manor that has everything you need for a relaxing French getaway. The guest home was cozy, clean, with all of the essentials. We won’t forget playing catch with their dog Danny while walking the property, lounging out in the backyard during those beautiful South of France afternoons, or enjoying the wood-burning fireplace during the cool fall nights. Our hosts were always available for questions or concerns, but gave us enough space to enjoy our privacy. They provided us with endless recommendations for fine dining, activities and sites to see in the area. All of their recommendations that we were able to see instantly became highlights of our trip. Overall, do not hesitate to make this your next vacation spot. We plan to return as soon as possible.

Pretty Bourgale
Very comfortable cottage for our grown up family of 4. Bedrooms spacious and very cool in the heat. Surrounding gardens just beautiful - we loved the table under the tree and my husband made the hammock his own. Beautiful pool which the kids loved. Waking distance to nearest village which has a great restaurant, boulangerie and two handy supermarkets. Favourite village by far though Monpazier which was a 20 minute drive. Thanks for having us.

Wonderful relaxing time, with amazing helpful hosts
We holidayed with 2 teenage girls, who had the freedom to roam the acres of parkland the property sits within. The girls enjoyed themselves immensely, with a little help from the children of the owners. A special mention for the hammock, which became a firm favourite. David and Katie were very warm, friendly and extremely helpful, giving us lots of ideas of what to see and do. The canoeing is a must, along with horse riding. The fresh eggs and vegetables picked/collected fresh on the day, were truly scrumptious and well received. Facilities were superb, both inside and out. A delightful tranquil and restful holiday in an amazingly quiet setting, we will be back soon. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

The best holiday we’ve had in years!!
David, Katie and family gave us the warmest of welcomes at their beautiful home in Villefranche-du-Perigord. The house and surrounding land was so picturesque that it is hard to put it into words. You have to see it for yourself to truly appreciate the peace, serenity and beauty of the place. The garden was so pretty and the house had everything we needed, from a lovely tree swing for our daughter, to deckchairs and chilled bubbles in the fridge on our arrival. The house was fantastically equipped with a super cot for our youngest, games, dvds and bags of information on things to do in the local area. Everything was clean and extremely well maintained - we couldn’t have asked for more! There was plenty of outside seating for a shady lunch as well as a beautiful canopied area for sundowners in the evening, where you could while away the hours looking at the fabulous fields and flowers and listening to the gentle buzz of the bees and sound of the cicadas - pure heaven!!! The gas barbecue was brilliant and made cooking delicious meats from the local butcher each evening a very simple task!! The swimming pool was excellent - a fabulous size and depth for young and old alike to enjoy. There was a great set of inflatables and pool toys and the sun loungers were really comfortable. David and Katie really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome here and we loved every moment of our stay. The children loved exploring the fields and the woods, playing in the lovely lawned area in front of the house and visiting the geese and the chickens each morning. This truly is a place of paradise where you could quite happily spend a whole week relaxing by the pool or alternatively visiting the beautiful bastides, caves and villages in the surrounding area. Rural France at its best with the most wonderfully kind, friendly and welcoming family in this, the most beautiful of homes. Thank you for one of the best holidays we’ve ever had as a family David, Katie and family and hope to see you again!!!

Wonderful escape in idyllic setting
We've just returned from a lovely stay at Bourgale. The property is in an idyllic setting with lovely views, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You can walk to the local village which has all the essentials along with cafes and restaurants. David and Katie were wonderful hosts and recommended some great days out (we had our 6 year old in tow). We did some canoeing, cycling, visited Castelnaud Castle and Marquessac gardens and did some tree walking so there's plenty to do within reasonable distance. Overall a lovely break

Perfect in every way! Beautiful setting, house was comfortable and the hosts were first-rate.
From the moment we arrived and were greeted by David in front of their 12th century manor house everything about our visit was perfect. The property was lovely and sited in a beautiful rural landscape. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, giving advice about places to eat and visit. The region is gorgeous...this is coming from people who live in one of the most beautiful villages in Maine. It was so comfortable, like visiting family, only better. Our cottage was well equipped and comfortable. David and Katie shared some products of the region with us as well as items from their garden. The geese, chickens and duck are particularly entertaining, especially while being fed our food scraps. Their children were delightful and not intrusive. The proximity to the village of Villefranche was particularly advantageous for us to be able to walk to town any time we wanted. All of the local merchants were friendly and welcoming. All in all, perfection!

Holiday at Bourgale first week of September 2018
We spent a thoroughly enjoyable week at this property. It is an oasis of relaxation, a cottage surrounded by gardens, meadows and forest. The accommodation is spacious, very well equipped and has a lovely character that blends well with the 12th century manor. David and Katie were welcoming and excellent hosts.Their recommendations and local knowledge ensured each day trip was memorable. We divided our time between relaxing at the cottage gardens and lovely pool, and exploring the Pergord region.

A wonderful stay at an amazing location.
The gite was spotless, well equipped, functional with access to a beautiful garden and a few steps away from a lovely pool. The pool was large, clean, with no noticeable odour or taste of chlorine and equipped with numerous inflatables and sun loungers (with shade). The pool is complemented by large well-maintained gardens. Perfect! The gite is part of a small group of buildings, typically with one other family and the owners staying on site. The buildings are surrounded by fields and woods and the location, a short drive away from the village, is peaceful and idyllic. The owners, Kate & David, were super friendly and their children were a pleasure to meet. Although on site, at no time did we ever feel over-looked or checked upon - a perfect balance was struck. We would certainly consider returning, as this was the best gite that we have experienced to date as a family.

Beautiful rural setting close to a vibrant Dordogne village !
Our cottage was set in beautifully landscaped and private gardens within a lovely rural and tranquil setting, but a 5-10 minute walk from Villefranche du Périgord which had all amenities including convenience stores, restaurant, bar and a local outside 20m swimming pool & tennis courts. The property was comfortable and well equipped with two en-suite bathrooms and lovely views onto open fields and gardens. David & Katie were lovely hosts and gave us some great information on where to eat, local attractions etc We had a fabulous time exploring the beautiful Dordogne from our lovely cottage - would highly recommend !

Total paradise - best holiday rental we've ever had!
We simply can't recommend this place highly enough. Simply put, Book Now! You won't regret it. The peace and tranquility of the gardens and beautiful views made this the most relaxing holiday we've ever had. We ate every meal outside, the swimming pool is a great size, the accommodation is well equipped, very comfortable and tastefully done, Dave's fantastic recommendations of places to visit were all bang on, the kids loved feeding the chickens, ducks and geese, the Dean's are a lovely family, our 4 year old said excitedly that 'he didn't realise he was going to make new friends on holiday!' but also strike a lovely balance of being there for advice and recommendations but without being overbearing. Villefranche du Perigord is a lovely little village, well stocked with cute cafes, delicious boulangeries and even a couple of restaurants. Days out to Beynac Castle, Limeuil and Bridoire Castle were all firm family favourites. We're already planning a return trip and can't wait to come back!

Comfortable gite in idyllic setting
A nicely converted, fastidiously clean, gite with just about everything needed for a relaxing break 'away from it all' yet within easy distance of both the Dordogne or Lot valleys and their chateaux. Excellent wi-fi but bear in mind there is no TV or radio. A fascinating area with a wealth of history to explore, Dave and Katie were attentive hosts and were able to recommend activities and venues for all weather conditions! The Verzere valley, and St Leon in particular, was our favourite destination (one of Dave's suggestions) and the market at St Cyprien (Sundays) provided provisions including real ales. Definitely a property we would recommend, we are already looking at next year.

Beautiful accommodation in picturesque surroundings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at La Bourgale Manor house. Each day we took a walk into the village of Villefranche du Perigord for coffee and buying supplies for our meals. David and Katie Dean were excellent hosts who picked us up from the train station and did some shopping for us before we arrived to get us started. We enjoyed many conversations with Dave about the history and attractions of the Dordogne. The cottage we stayed in was very comfortable and had everything we needed supplied. It was a wonderful experience that we will never forget.
