Villajoyosa, or as the locals say "la Vila", is the capital of the La Marina Baixa region on the Costa Blanca and is approximately 40 km. from Alicante airport.
Villajoyosa (Cheerful City) has always been a fishing village and to this day it has retained that old-world charm. You can still see the fishing boats sail out at sunrise. And around the clock from 4 to 5 in the afternoon you see the 1st boats full of fish returning. The fish is auctioned immediately at the fish auction. This auction is definitely worth a visit if you like to see how everything goes.
In addition to fishing, Villajoyosa is also known for its chocolate. Don't forget to taste the famous "chocolate con churros", specialty of the town where there were 20 chocolate factories in the last century. Also the mountainous
hinterland of the Costa Blanca is definitely worth it. You can still find the typical old Spanish villages and towns such as Guadelest and Alcoy. A trip to Valencia can also be done from Villajoyosa, for example. In short, you can enjoy the sun, sea and beaches here. And for those who want a more active or cultural holiday there are countless possibilities.
