Landstraße is the 3rd municipal District in Vienna, located near the center and established in the early 19th century. Landstraße is known for the elegant palatial embassies that pepper the area, complete with photogenic gardens and epic fountains. Landstraße is the most heavily populated of Vienna’s inner districts with a highly residential population. Visitors get around easily using the main railway station, Bahnhof Wien Mitte, or via the U3 and U4 underground lines. Visitors to Landstraße flock to the popular Belvedere Palace which was once a summer residence of the Prince of Savoy but now houses the Austrian Gallery.
