This property COULD have been great if the property managers didn't gas light us for 3 days. We rented this space as we were a group of 6 and it was a new listing with a great price AND we knew we were coming during a hot weekend in Victoria so we specifically looked for a space with AIR CONDITIONING.
We arrived to the house and we actually quite pleased with the decor, look and feel of the space. As we settled in, we got warm almost immediately, the temp quickly rose to 83 so we went to the thermostat to turn on the AC. We waited, then waited then waited. No AC turned on, no air movement coming out of the vents, it did not get cooler. As this was the first day we messaged the host and they said they'd look into it. To make a long story short, they first accused us of not knowing how to use the AC, THEN they said they'd send someone over to check the AC which they then said it was functioning correctly, BUT they dropped of TWO box fans which we then had to assemble with NO TOOLS (butter knife came in handy). We then visually checked around the house to confirm if there was indeed an AC unit outside, there wasn't, despite the hosts saying there was (they wouldn't tell us where it was). Over the course of the weekend we texted, emailed and had an actual call with the hosts and each time they either said it was working (it wasn't), we didn't know how to use the ac (we know how to work a thermostat) that there was an AC unit (there wasn't) and then they insisted sometimes AC units don't work when it's hot (pardon?)
In the end they said 74-76 degrees was in fact ideal temperature for people to be comfortable in and that there was nothing more they could do for us.
We would have happily understood if they said the AC was broken and they said they'd drop off some fans to hopefully make our stay more comfortable, but instead they insisted we were ignorant, unable to use an imaginary AC and that during a heat wave AC units shut down.
Could have been great, but in the end it wasn't.
ALSO in regards to the initial impression of the place we quickly realized this place was just flipped quick to be rented out. Quick vinyl countertop stickers used to change counters, cheap beds (our slats kept falling out which made the mattress drop as we were sleeping), quick coats of paint and blinds literally taped to the window with packing tape . Lipstick on a pig for an investment property is what this is.
