Safety;
Safety is everyones concern and we have evaluated our home site carefully and thoroughly to ensure OH&S issues were identified and addressed. We urge visitors to excercise normal caution and awareness as would exsist with any normal household in relevant areas. An excellent record exists with the history of the home and previous stays, and we hope to continue this great record.
Here are some tips;
Even the warmest days can turn quite cool to freezing by the evening, extra blankets and warmth can be found in the home but please ensure you pack clothes for all occassions of weather just in case. Learning to catch the evening heat in the home and extend this into the evening helps with climate control. So too keeping doors and windows/blinds closed on a cool but upcoming sunny or hot days really maximizes keeping the home cool longer into a day or night before conditioning is used.
Whilst many do not go big on cooking we do advise that minors and youngsters be kept well away from operating kitchen appliances such as the oven which requires the operator keep the head and face at least arms distance back from above the oven door when opened. Extremely hot air will escape when the oven door is opened. The stove top is gas and please be careful with large pots and pans.
Hot water is set at a rate that can provide for the household. Beware of potential burns or scolding especially with unattended minors.
Please check the lint filter inside the dryer before each use. Dry time is greatly reduced and safety factors increased. Please do not run the dryer for long periods of time unattended.
The home has tiled floors throughout and thoughtfully advise folk to excercise caution with spills and wet floors. A mop and bucket are available in the laundry. Anti Slip mats and floor coverings are provided in key areas to assist safety and comfort during the wet season.

Please See Emergency proceedures below; what to do in an emergency.
In Case of an EMERGENCY or FIRE EMERGENCY ESCAPE
What to do;
• CALL 000 before anything else.
• Identify what service the operator asks you for.
• Follow directions and stay calm.
• Excercise a patient orderly manner.
Phone reception may be affected. Frontyard to road area has reception & TelstraAir and verandah areas are better.
Exit Points are found from KITCHEN (Central area) TO THE FRONTDOOR if accessible. Also the LAUNDRY door leads you TO THE BACK YARD also accessable via SLIDING DOORS. Gathering points are in the BACKYARD CORNER opposite side to the storage shed and at the BUS STOP OUT THE FRONT over the road to the right. For security reasons the Garage Doors and Laneway gate to the front yard are not suitable exit points.
Fire extinguishers are general purpose for all types of fire and can be easily deployed safely in the event a small fire is realized before evac. Always call 000 immediately first. We suggest at least one person in the group become familiar with extinguisher usage as a basic safety undertaking. Decals illustrate its use clearly on the bottle.
A FIRE BLANKET is stored under the KITCHEN SINK for cooking related issues including the bbq.
To avoid uneccessary emergencies please;
Do NOT over load any device designed for burning open fires. Play it safe.
Do NOT burn non wood or paper products e.g glossy commercials, cartons or cardboard boxes, plastics and materials.
Do NOT use accelerants or products like aeresol or petrol
Don't lean apon or touch devices designed for open fires.
Please beware of children and fireplaces/bbq's and there associated fuels and risk involved during operation.
PLEASE USE ASHTRAYS PROVIDED. DISPOSAL OF BUTTS OR LIT CIGARETTES IS DANGEROUS AND AFFECTS THE ISLAND ENVIRONMENT. RESPECT AND PROTECT!
Thankyou so much.
House Manual
Welcome to Phillip Island retreat and escape in style!
Address; 75 Anchorage Road Ventnor Phillip Island Victoria Australia 3922
Thankyou for choosing to stay at our home.
We truly hope you will enjoy your stay as many over the years have.
An exclusive stay, often we provided this home to freinds and family and traded stays with other homes in various destinations that they held. It was a casual arrangement long before the web provided the resources we have today. Built in 2007, the home was our Australian port of call out of a busy lifestyle globally. Now after Covid we support our son stranded overseas.
The biggest aspect of the home is the unique coolness it can maintain during the hottest of Australian weather, even without assisted cooling. So too it was a robust strong hideaway against the harshest of wild island weather.
Again Welcome and do not hesitate to contact me for any concern, or information.
Winter Tips
We really hope you take on board our recommendations, we haven't had any problems yet for our guests but are finding this years winter providing very colder than before nights.
Help us to minimize carbon footprint and save output from usage of the home. We try to conserve and preserve not only to help lower the impact but unessecary use and costs with providing this stay for you.
Wet Weather
We do ask that you try to maintain a 'shoes off policy' from outside to inside the home during the wet seasons. A mat and drying towel is near the doors during these periods.
Using slippers or socks are best for all inside areas of the home. For safety reasons this is recommended practice, especially when the back yard wets up at times as tile floors can with certain footwear types be slippery or hazardous.
Heating
The heating units in the house can achieve great results to reach all rooms. Especially if the fireplace is used with the fan for a short period of time.
