Fishing trips can be chartered through Captain Jack; information is available upon request.
Closest beach access is through Service Club Beach Park (0.2 miles). This wonderful park was completely restored. The renovation includes a beautiful boardwalk and many picnic shelters. Another beach in close proximity is Sharky's (0.5 miles) and Caspersen's (1 mile). These south beaches are county-owned, pristine beaches with no buildings or condos.. The Golf Club is 1 mile away. The canoe/kayak launch and the Legacy trail ( biking, rollerblading, walking) are 2 miles away. Main downtown Venice restaurants, attractions, and Centennial Park (outdoor farmers market, art shows) are 1.5 miles away.
The island community we are a part of has everything you need without leaving the island, and no need to drive if you choose not to. There is everything: beaches, boating, golfing, dining, pharmacy, food shopping (Publix), municipal post office, hospital, and blocks of small shops close by.
There is a small municipal airport in the vicinity. Our visitors commented on how much they loved watching the small planes take off while sitting on the lanai. But you can not hear the aircraft inside, which is nice. The airport grounds are commonly used for local festivals, like the famous Shark's Tooth Festival, Wine for the Cure festival, BBQ Bash, Italian Feast, Carnival, and many others.
