"NB At the moment, there are road works in front of the hotel, so access is by foot only. Complimentary parking at the rear of the hotel was available. The lady in Reception who checked us in was very friendly and efficient. Our room had recently been renovated, as had the sauna, the bed was very comfortable, though the room’s furniture, mottled grey leather sofas, were unexpected and quite un-Scandic. At the time of our stay there was no heating (nor aircon) in our room. As it was a colder...

"The family have done a phenomenal job in restoring this old building as well as the oldest in Varkaus which they operate a restaurant. Wonderful service and people. The only thing you need to know is there are no blockout blinds, so bring an eye mask in summer ;-)"
