The Sands doesn't look like much as you pull in, but the rooms have updates and are clean. We have stayed several times, as it's one of the cheapest places in town and is a good value for travelers who don't mind funky/older places. We even like that the train tracks are right out back. When we hear the horn or feel the rumble, we walk out to see/feel the trains blowing through town. For coffee, tea, bevs, snacks and gas, there's a decent Love's literally across the street, and there's a nicer Pilot a half mile away.
