"It was an incredible experience to live alone in an abandoned village in Mani. You feel far away from everything and it is a nice feeling. The nearest beach is about 25 minutes driving. The house is always fresh downstairs in the main bedroom. For the persons who like to hike, unfortunately, a fire occured in august 2021 so it is not very pleasant to walk in the countryside around. Mosquitoes could be a challenge also sometimes during the evening (even in the house). The views from the house are...

"The house is beautiful, with lots of seating areas, good sized bedrooms and a lovely garden and terraces. These combine great views of the sea and mountains, with sheltered places to eat and cook outside. The area of the Mani the house is in is dramatic and surprising, and Kiparissos is a great base to explore it all. Last but not least there are two delightful beaches within 5 minutes walk, both often deserted and with lovely clear water. We look forward to returning!"

Then, when we arrived at the admittedly charming location, things unravelled further. the very first thing that hit us was a fusty smell of neglect as we opened the door. We do not think the description or the website is accurate. "First the positive - it was in a lovely location which we know well as we have been twice to the area - very close walking to the beach, the sea views near, plenty of space inside and a lovely living room. Good size beds. Good annexe for my teenage son to escape to. Things that could have been better were - we did not receive code for entry so thought we were being met and we were not - I had to call. No house book so we did not know how things worked which is very unhelpful re heating, water...
