"We’ve just had the most relaxing overnight stay at 13Bees, what a real shame we couldn’t have stayed longer. The setting is magical, just overlooking the river, beautiful house with gorgeous terrace, lovely bedrooms, yummy breakfast. Easy walking distance from eatery’s & shops. "Beautiful castle in the countryside accessible by public transportation. The place is in walking distance to a village meat market and a bakery. We got food and wine from the village and had a lovely picnic in the garden. Overall a very special experience and we absolutely enjoyed the tranquility and natural beauty of this 16th century chateau. The room is spacious and clean and there’s a fan. Note that as usual window screen is not a thing in France, so come prepared with mosquito spray. "

"Please stay at this wonderful chambre d’hote. Roxi is the perfect host and you can really tell that she has put her heart and soul into this lovely house. The bedroom we had was amazing and had everything you need including a huge jacuzzi!!! Perfect place to enjoy the town of Verteuil sur Charente. Fresh eggs included in great breakfast. We will be back!!!"

"Friendly welcome from the owner and shown to a nice family room. Comfy beds and bathroom with really good shower. Lovely breakfast served outside in sun. Kids enjoyed the pool, very clean. All would have been perfect but for the unexpected heatwave which reached about 40 degrees and as there is no air con we initially suffered trying to sleep. Saying this l would definitely go back again, it is so very quirky!"

"Lovely gite, nice couple very friendly but unfortunately whilst decor etc was lovely for me the basics need tweaking a bit ie: no freeze box, no blinds in the bedrooms, no WiFi and I had to climb into the bath to set the taps for the children to have a shower/bath which I found quite difficult with an arthritic hip. On the plus side there is a full size cooker, microwave and a washing machine so I was able to go home with a clean suitcase of washing. There were dvds to watch, bikes to ride and...
