Pet-Friendly Cabin on 6,000 Acre Hill Country Ranch

Unwind, unplug, and relax at our charming 1-bedroom, 1-bath cabin nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Situated on our privately owned 6,000-acre ranch, our cabin is the perfect place to escape your everyday responsibilities. Our cabin sleeps six and has an attached bathroom, kitchen, featuring a hot plate burner, mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig coffee machine. When visiting our ranch, immerse yourself in outdoor adventures like hiking, birdwatching, stargazing, and more!

Please note: We have a second cabin adjacent to this listing that comfortably sleeps two. If you are interested in booking both cabins, please let me know!

Guests can also enjoy visiting the farm, where we have three Pygmy goats (Blue, Billy, and Callie), Wensleydale sheep (Tilly, Lil' Bet, and Fig), horses (Rusty and Cricket), chickens, and a rabbit named Hamburger.

Shopping and groceries:
Depending on where you are coming from, Uvalde or Kerrville will likely be the last large town you drive through where there is a Wal-Mart, HEB, or Walgreens. etc. Camp Wood is the closest town to the ranch and has a family-owned gas station (Get-N-Go) and a Family Dollar. Both businesses should have what you need, but we recommend you plan accordingly prior to your visit.

Proximity to other attractions:
Chalk Bluff: Approximately 30 minutes. The majority of the drive is getting off our ranch (~20 minutes). The remaining time is spent on the highway.
Nueces Canyon River: 20 minutes. Our County Road crosses two sections of the Nueces River and is a quick 15-20-minute drive from the cabins.
Garner State Park: Roughly 50 minutes to an hour. While we may look close on the map, there are rolling hills that separate us from the Leakey/Concan area. You will have to drive through Camp Wood, but the drive is part of the famous Twisted Sisters, often said to be one of the most scenic highways in Texas.

Other things to note:
1.) The kitchen has a mini fridge and a hot plate burner (there is not a full-sized stove/oven), so we ask guests to plan meals accordingly.
2.) We do not have an ice maker in the cabin. However, we do have a large cooler on the front porch that guests can use to store ice.
3.) Guests must drive down ~8 miles of well-maintained caliche road. While 4x4 is not required, if there is heavy rain, the roads can become muddy in some spots.
4.) Guests can bring their kayaks, canoes, ATVs, etc. Please let me know if you will be bringing any of these, and I would be more than happy to offer guidance on where to go on the ranch.
5.) Cellphone service can be spotty throughout the ranch and you may have little to no service when exploring, depending on your provider.

Pet friendly cabin
Communication with property manager was great! No TV in cabin , wasn’t aware -not listed on ad. Didn’t matter bc there were many games that were provided in the cabin which kept us busy. Spotty WiFi. Dried lakes, unable to locate lake on ranch that was swimmable. Couldn’t download maps due to limited service and spotty WiFi. Takes a minute to get cabin once on ranch property. 20 min. Approximately to get to cabin. Closest river to site were quite a distance away.

Loved this property! The WiFi connection could have been better (for loading GPS for the area) but the views were stunningly scenic! The host was attentive and very responsive. The large cabin was very clean and had all the amenities of home! 10/10!

FUNEST ADVENTURE EVER!
I hesitate to give away this amazing little jewel. I will be back. I have stayed at dozens of VRBOs, some expensive others cheap. But nothing like this! First the owner, Ashley is the most helpful person ever. I had a maintenance issue at midnight the night I arrived and she sent out a family member to take care of it that night. I was always bugging her with questions and she always answered promptly and with such a cheerful attitude, never seemed bothered. I totally wasn't expecting that. When I arrived there were farm fresh fancy eggs and their own honey from the ranch. The cabin is very cute, clean, efficient and cozy. Ashley was so accommodating when at last minute my sister and her boyfriend decided they wanted to come after I showed them videos she got the cabin next door ready right away. I saw so many interesting flora and fauna. Fancy wild hogs, a raccoon family, road runners, bats, interesting bugs, farm animals, deer, one exotic deer, beautiful fields of flowers, cliffs, mountains, dry creeks, ponds, and could even see the milky way at night and much more. There were so many walking and driving (need a 4X4) trails I couldn’t even explore them all in the week I was there. But the most important to me is they had a dig sight set up for finding tons and tons of Native American artifacts. What fun! Thank you so much Ashley and please thank you Aunt and Mr. Williamson.

We had a good time
The property was as described, it was clean and comfortable. It was well stocked and the host left us welcome treats. It was a very hot day but the AC worked very well and kept us cool.

Amazing views
We got there as the sun was going down and the sky was turning pink! Absolutely beautiful at that time, no light pollution and a lot of stars visible. Highly recommend for a quiet night. A bunch of bugs but that's what you should expect when being outdoors, be warned though. Ashley was so sweet when we met her in the morning during our hike. Animals were so friendly.
