"The Good: The hot spring baths on the 5th floor (inside and outside) are really worth the challenge in getting to the hotel. There is good hiking around the town although the info available from the tourist office is quite limited for those speaking English. The Not So Good: The room I had, although quite spacious, was not very practical. A single thin futon bed was in the middle of a otherwise largely empty space. "It's too bad the hotel was in such bad shape! We were looking forward to some rest and relaxation. The Onsen main bath was closed due to maintenance so men and women had to take turns using the other bath. Asking about nearby restaurants for dinner because hotel's dinner was only available with reservations, front desk clerk clearly told us there were only izakayas, bars, available nearby. There was a wonderful hotel restaurant around the corner for dinner that included access to the onset...

"The hotel is comfortable with a private onsen to enjoy in our room. The meals were wonderful and the staff bent over backwards to cater for my shellfish allergy. The room is large and lightfilled. We enjoyed the entire trip and thank the friendly staff for their support"

"Traditional style ryokan, futon beds set nightly. Incredible Nagasaki city views. Hotel is dated yet charming due to the friendly staff. Breakfast buffet is same selection daily which can seem a bit like Groundhog Day. Set on a steep hilltop, do not even think of walking from the Nagasaki train station with luggage unless you are a world class hiker."

"The room is amazing, the staff is very helpful and welcoming. The open air hot spring is nice and quieter than i thought. I literally enjoyed the open air hot spring with no one else. The breakfast was amazing! "

"Great place to stay in Unzen, for an affordable price. The owner is really nice, and waited for me to check-in in the evening. The room was great, with a nice view of the nearby lake. I'll gladly stay again, if I ever visit Unzen again."

"Hilton is Hilton. 5 star hotel is 5 star hotel. No Lie, No BS. They deserve the high ranking. Everything I receive is top rate while the price is very affordable. Room size is very large, and the dining table inside the room is amazing. Room is bright, clean, and very comfortable. When I first opened the door, me and my mom is WOW. The second thing to do is to take photo inside the room. Marriot is across hilton nagasaki but I still prefer hilton. My aunt lives in Marriot while myself is staying in Hilton. I did visit her room. The room is very luxury, and I like the idea of the bathroom design. You can move the door panel around the bathroom, hard to explain here. The hotel is 2 minutes walking distance from nagasaki station and 1 minute from the taxi stand. Super market is 7 minutes walking. I have stayed in more than 12 hotels in Japan and this is the best or second best. The hotel management team and staff spend effort to run this property. "

"The hotel had hot springs for the guest to use and the room was large, plenty of space to walk around which is not typical for most Japanese hotels. Room also had plenty of storage space and even had a patio looking over the waterfront. It's not a clear view of the waterfront but it's something. "

"Very nice hotel in nice location. Close to China town and local convenient stores. It was a little difficult to pull up and take items out of your car if you are driving, but that’s only bc the road is very narrow leading to the hotel. the parking garage they suggest is very close though. The staff were very friendly and our rooms were nice and clean. Nice onsen area. We would stay again!"
