"We were warmly greeted by Uche(sp). She showed us our apartment which was large and well equipped. Food items to prepare were waiting for us in the kitchen: pasta, sauce, bread, juice, beer. The farmhouse garage area is like a museum with sleighs and old farm equipment. The bathroom was large. There was a washing machine, but we were asked not to use it. Not sure why. "We had previously written Memmingen off as a purely transit town - handy for the nearby airport and nothing else. This was based on the less-than-inspiring train station and it’s immediate vicinity. However, on this visit we were pleasantly surprised to discover a remarkable ’old town’ district a short walk away.
