Great location and great space
This was a perfect spot for a women's retreat with 10 ladies. Everyone had their own bed and the space provided great space to gather together and find some quiet. Loved how close it was to the beach and the hot tub for warming up!

Beautiful house, well cared for, gorgeous fireplace we used constantly during the rainy cold days. Plenty of spaces for our group to spread out. Kitchen was great fun to cook in. Will definitely go again.

Spacious House and Grounds.
The house was very spacious with a lot of bedroom and beds to accommodate out group of 10 ladies. the kitchen table and living room were large so we could all gather around with ease. It was great to have 3 full bathrooms. The location was close to town for shopping and eating. The beach wasn't too far and overall it had everything we were looking for.

Spacious, yet Quaint
Our family enjoyed our time here at this old house! The pictures are super bright and cheery, but that has to be a filter. There are games and Wi-Fi for the kids. The hot tub was super enjoyable. An easy walk to the beach. They provided bath towels, as well as hot tub towels. The listing isn’t quite accurate as far as beds and spaces. There’s only one king size bed in the entire place. Most of the other bedrooms just have a queen. The guesthouse is pretty awkward and has a very tricky deadbolt that needs to have the handle up in order to turn. Overall, we were pleased with the space and how responsive the owners were!

Winter Fest
Our family of 8 needed a nice spot for a winter getaway. This home was perfect! We loved the charm of the home settled in a sweet neighborhood, great for walking and steps from the beach. Because of the cold weather we loved the giant fireplace, the wonderful hot tub and the variety of games! The kitchen is perfect for big family cooking and we loved the giant table to gather, play cards and simply chat the day away. Union pier is an adorable and quiet winter hang, but we can imagine it being bustling and beautiful in the summer! Perhaps a revisit?

Relaxing stay for the Girls trip
The Berrien Street Beach house in Union Pier was a Michigan hidden gem for our annual girls' trip. The home was quite spacious, but it felt warm and inviting. It can accommodate large families, and there are so many amenities to keep everyone entertained. The home is in a quiet neighborhood with public beach access to Lake Michigan at the end of the block. It was clean and well-stocked, with bathroom gadgets and many kitchen utensils. Upon arrival, we had a maintenance concern, and the local management responded immediately. Also, the regional manager briefly reviewed how things work in the home. A special thank you to the local Vacasa management and maintenance staff at the Berrien Street Beach house for everything they did to make our Girls' trip comfortable and relaxing. Thank you to Vacasa for managing such a lovely property. I look forward to returning to this property next fall and recommend staying at this home.

Amazing Location
We had a wonderful time at this house. We were 6 adults, 3 kids under 5, a newborn, and a dog! The guest house is nothing fancy, but a perfect option for those who'd like a bit more privacy. It was great having a big fenced in outdoor area and being so close to the beach! We made good use of the kitchen, grill, and hot tub! There are definitely a few things that could've been better - there were no beach toys or chairs for our use (something we've found at many other houses in the area), the floors didn't seem very clean, the outdoor shower didn't work, and the coffee maker was really cheap (the fancy one in the guest house was unusable). Like some other reviews mentioned, it seems there are some on-going maintenance issues that haven't been addressed, but overall we had a wonderful stay!

Quintessential Beach House
Everything about our stay was perfect from start to finish! We had a large group that included teenagers. Having the guest house for the teens to retreat to really gave them space to call their own. The main house is gorgeous with lots of character. Beautiful architectural details, furniture, artwork and décor. The home was extremely clean, very comfy beds, nice linens and lots of space! Kitchen was stocked with all the gadgets, cookware, and dishware you could need, and all appliances worked perfectly. The outdoor space is lush, peaceful and quite spacious. We loved the hot tub and enjoyed it each night! The outdoor grill was great for our big group. The beach is super close, a 2-minute walk and you're there! At the end of the block is the Whistle Stop (amazing coffee, pastries etc.) and Red Arrow Roadhouse. Also, a short walk to downtown Union Pier, some adorable restaurants and super convenient Union Pier Market. Can’t wait to go back!

Great stay except for neighbors calling the police….
The house was great! My group had tons of fun. We also had plenty of room for everyone. Some of the mattresses were kind of hard although the master bedroom had a nice mattress. We also loved the jacuzzi tub but we couldn’t get the jets to work. The only real negative that affected our mood was the neighbors who called the cops twice while we were in the hot tub. We were not being obnoxiously loud just talking and laughing here there was music so low the we ourselves couldn’t even hear the lyrics. The cop threatened to ticket everyone. The neighbors also told the cops that no one was supposed to be at the rental. We had to show proof of our booking. That experience really did put a major damper on an otherwise great stay.

A Bit of a Letdown
We were there to celebrate our 40th college graduation. Although the location was great, a block from the lake on a beautiful tree-lined street, we ran into several problems. The WIFI was not available during our 3 night stay until the last night. I was told if it wasn't working to find the router, and plug/unplug. We could not locate the router anywhere in the house. After texting and calling dozens of times, someone finally came on Saturday afternoon to install a router. Apparently we were the first guests of new owners. The 3 garbage cans out front were supposed to be picked up Friday, but the new owners had not signed up for pick up. So we had full, stinky, buggy garbage cans & had to leave the rest of ours on the front porch. Also there were several things that were either filthy or not working. The tops of the ceiling fans, even the one over the dining table, were extremely dirty. The fan in the upstairs bedroom was not safe to run, super wobbly. There was a food wrapper on top of the shower in the upstairs large bathroom. In the guest house the washer/dryer knobs were about to fall off and the toliet ran unless you shook the handle. The furniture cushions on the front porch were stained and dirty, & one of the front gates was very overgrown. The house was not stocked with enough TP, dishwasher or laundry pods. The wine opener did not work. Finally, the TV in the den had a poor quality picture as we watched the Notre Dame game. Got pics if interested.

Great Stay with One Parking-Related Complaint
We stayed at this house a couple weeks ago. It worked very well for our large group with varying ages (from an infant to adults). It's a short, easy walk from the house to public beach access. The kitchen is fairly well-stocked as far as utensils, pots, pans. The hot tub badly needed cleaning (brown water) toward the beginning of our week, and Vacasa was very responsive and sent someone to clean it the day after I called. It would have been helpful to have information about trash pick up. This is the first house we've rented with a third-party property manager, so we are used to having to put out the trash bins during the week for collection. I had called Vacasa to find out about garbage pick up, but never received a response, so I had the bins sitting out on the street for several days, not wanting to miss pick up. We later found out that someone from Vacasa comes to set the bins out and take them back in. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time. Our major complaint is regarding the street parking in front of the house. We had several cars parked out in front, at an angle, for the week. Toward the end of the week, the Chikaming Township Police gave us two $50 parking tickets for two of the cars parked in front. The cars were ticketed because they allegedly weren't pulled in off the street far enough. Needless to say, this was a very unpleasant surprise, as there isn't anything to indicate that you will or may get ticketed if a police officer decides your vehicle is sticking out too far, nor was this mentioned in any of the check-in information for the house. Plus, the road is in horrible condition, and there is no clear delineation between what constitutes the actual street and what constitutes the space for parking in front of the house. An owner of one of the ticketed vehicles went in to the police station to get more information about the tickets and was met with very smug attitudes and responses. Perhaps ticketing for this is a new phenomenon on Berrien Street, but if not, we would have appreciated a warning about this from the owners in the check-in information.

Dirty, smelly, photos not a good representation
Well, it looks pretty much like the photos, but that's about it. Unfortunately for us, it was too dirty for us to tolerate for more than one afternoon. I used the upstairs master bedroom as an office for a few hours, and the cigarette smell from the adjoining bathroom was unbearable. It stuck in my palette for a couple of hours after we left. There were what I think were Dorito's crumbs on top of the bed and I'd bet the sheets weren't even laundered. If you decide to rent it, you'll see the disgusting collection of linens crumbled up on the shelf in one of the upstairs bathrooms. And step on the filthy "master balcony" at your own risk. A bunch of big dead bumblebees were left on the porch outside. Right outside of the door where a cleaning crew could not miss. We had to cover the sectional couch in the TV room with our own blankets to cover the filth and smell so sit on it. The door handle fell off one of the doors when we tried to open it. Random broken furniture, including the "hands-free" trash can and broken, glass end table. We had to pick up the filthy trash can top to throw anything away. The windows inside and out look like they hadn't been cleaned since they were installed back in '52. We would have never used any of the cookware, plates, silverware in this place. Dirty, messy cabinets and drawers. We felt so filthy we went home and showered -- we rented the place to get away from a disruptive home renovation project and preferred to live with the dust, noise, and workers instead of staying there even an hour longer than we did. We would have left sooner if not for a stack of Zoom calls. I replied to the VRBO "how was your stay" email and let them know that it was basically a waste of almost $4k. No one got back to me. We weren't even going to leave a public review (we typically don't do those things), hoping the VBRO folks or the owner would reach out with some sort of an explanation, but no luck. So we figured we'd tell it like it is. It looks great online, but the second you walk onto that front porch and try to open the lock that sorely needs to be oiled and pull open the door that has decades built up of peoples' hand grime and take that first whiff, you'll know you've been duped. Bums us out. One disclaimer: this is our first VRBO experience, so if this is all expected, then ignore the review.

Great space for big family!
We came for a wedding weekend. It was perfect for so many family units under one roof. The common spaces were large enough to be together with excellent private space to escape to and relax. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and all the basics we needed, even a rolling pin😄. It was an easy walk to the Whistle Stop grocery for a few items we forgot and a quick walk for beach access.

Nice location
We had four couples stay together for a long weekend, and we had plenty of space. Two bedrooms (1 king and 1 double beds) are in a separate guest house, which was fine for us, but might be a problem for some groups. The common space was great and the kitchen was well stocked. It was a great, walkable location for heading to the beach, as well as a couple restaurants. A couple notes of concern- the outdoor space was very nice but everything was covered in fallen pine needles which we had to clean off path to guest house and all outside seating. Also the space heater was not working correctly. Inside, the upstairs bedrooms and sink areas have openings to the common hallway, so there is a lack of privacy that might be a problem for some people. Overall, we were pleased and would return again!

Excellent Location!
16 of us (kids and adults) enjoyed this home for a week in July. The location to the beach was fantastic; a quick block walk, and then a gradual, sandy, tree canopied slope down to the water. We walked back down every night to watch the sunset. The house is also walkable up the street to both Red Arrow Roadhouse (delicious) and The Whistle Stop Grocery which made insanely good breakfast sandwiches and where you could pick up odds and ends. The big house itself had *just* enough room for all of us, the kitchen being a bit tight. There was plenty of seating for meals. The outside ares were great; plenty of space for the kids to run around and play on the swing set. The kiddos all loved the bunk bed room. And this house is really nicely equipped! Stocked kitchen, TONS of great beach towels (don't even think of bringing your own) and multiple washer/dryers. The local Vacasa rep, Marie, was awesome and super prompt. The guest house, however, was less desirable, smelling a bit of mildew and having no access to wifi, which was not listed in the description. Even is you ask Vacasa before going (which I did, twice) and they tell you that YES, there is wifi in the guest house, please be aware that there is NOT. So if you're planning on working from the little house or anything else that needs connection, rethink it. Wifi in the big house was perfectly fine, fyi. This house is definitely more "rustic" than it looks in the photos which must have been taken awhile ago. The windows are dirty, the showers all have mildew, there are loose tiles, there are tears in the furniture, etc. For the price, it feels like an update/refresh is in order here. With a bit of TLC, this would be a 5 star home, easily!

Berrien Street Beach House
Great floor plan for a large family. Large yard with fence for the family dog. Nice hot tub serviced by a very nice professional. Short walk to a gorgeous beach. But some concerning problems - live floor outlet in the living room with exposed wires and no cover; guest house has silverfish bugs and the toilet is too close to the wall for most adults; kitchen drawers so dirty we kept silverware on the counter; had to buy forks because there weren’t enough; couches on screened porch broken - one guest landed on the floor; grill never reached 300 degrees; wondering if we were charged for our dog since dogs are advertised to be free.

Good location, poorly maintained & frustrating
If you like a short walk to an easy beach, if you can tolerate kitchen ants, a non-functioning grill, a guest house with sloping floors & tile falling off the shower stall walls, missing bulbs & sockets that don't work, shower door that doesn't close - and a management company, Vacasa, that is of little help - this is your place. BTW-It's falling apart at the seams & dirty. Wife says to mention the outdoor furniture is too filthy to sit at. And good luck getting the key from the lock box..
