Great location
Wonderful stay in a beautiful home. Wish they could have actually fixed the incessant smoke detector beeping, but otherwise a nice stay.

Long family weekend
Our family of four enjoyed our first trip to Bear Lake. We enjoyed playing Pickleball, the pool, and renting boats at the marina. The house was very nice and clean.

Underwhelmed
The cabin's kitchen was well-equipped and the living areas clean. The owner fell short with the bed and bath linens. The king sized bed did not have a mattress pad, all bed linens were of poor quality and the bath towels were either stained, so unusable, or threadbare. The owner was made aware of the situation, but failed to respond. Also, renters must check-in at the Greeter's Gate where we were informed there was a mandatory $30 per day amenity fee. We were able to make contact with the owner who agreed to pay the fee. Once this was taken care of we were allowed to enter the property.

Peaceful and Relaxing
Exceptional location in the woods, above the creek, at the end of the road. Just sitting in back deck and listening to the wind in the trees and the leaves falling with the babbling Brook below. Who couldn’t relax? The property is well maintained and equipped as advertised. All you need for your stay. There is an entrance to the trailhead right outside your door. Step straight into nature. The owner is very attentive to detail and highly responsive if needed. Overall a 10 and look forward to going back again.

Perfect
We spent all our time on the back porch listening to the stream and watching football - atmosphere 10/10. Very impressed with fully stocked cookware in the kitchen. If you’re into breweries, travel to Balsam Falls in Sylva.

Family Vacation Late July 2023
My wife, son, daughter-in-law and two very young grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay. The online pictures did not do this property justice. The cabin was spacious, clean and well-appointed with everything you might need. The screened-in porch was much larger than it appears in the pictures and the wonderful sounds of nature all around the property made our stay very enjoyable. The only minor issue was our inability to light the outdoor fireplace on the porch (may have been user error). Parking is adequate for 2 large SUV's but a bit tricky. John Sill was very accommodating and made the process quite simple and access to the Lake Club is a big plus. We loved our stay and we are already making plans for another visit to this property.

Mountain Magic!
We travel a LOT and are pretty picky when it comes to lodging. Our stay here was nothing short of wonderful. Bear Lake Reserve is an amazing community. We came in late but the folks at the Guest House were helpful and friendly. Approaching the cabin, all lights were on for us, (which is good at the top of the heavily wooded and dark NC mountains!) The cabin is beautiful, all upscale furnishings and decor, super clean and everything you need to settle right in. And then, you walk out on the screened back deck… and you don’t want to leave. Stone fireplace, comfy seating and the babbling stream that melts your stress away. We saw deer drinking in the stream below, a flock of Pileated woodpeckers on the tree next to the cabin; you are basically sitting in the middle of a forest! We spent most of our time out there! The owner, John, was quick with responses to our questions and such a gracious host! We’re looking forward to coming back to this magically mountain haven! Oh, a few favorite meals in town… we had great steaks at Boots and a-ma-zing fresh, firebrick pizzas at Meatballs!

Great Thanksgiving Stay
We had extended family coming from 3 different areas out of state to meet at this property for the week of Thanksgiving. We had a great time. Many hiking trails to explore. Evening drives throughout the mountainside had beautiful views of sunsets and even a family of black bears! We had great communication with the host about his property and he was prompt to answer any questions we had. We plan to return in the spring to visit the golf course and other amenities the property has to offer during warmer months.

Beautiful, peaceful cabin
I cannot boast enough about this property. We absolutely loved our stay here. The cabin is accurately pictured and is well equipped and supplied with everything you could ever need. The host was wonderful to work with, the beds are extremely comfortable, the place is immaculately clean, and the location is on a quiet, wooded lot overlooking a creek at the end of the road in a beautiful gated community. We didn’t get a chance to use the Bear Creek Reserve amenities as there were so many beautiful trails and waterfalls in the area to hike that there just was not enough time to fit that in too. Maybe we will get the chance on a return trip, as we hated to leave and have already decided that we will definitely be returning.
