The Prickly Pear house was welcoming and more spacious than we anticipated. The eclectic feel of the home and garden is wonderful. Would highly recommend!

Love this charming home.
My daughter, sister in law, daughter in law and I stayed in this charming older home for a couple of nights. We enjoyed the whole house and especially the screened in front porch. Truth or Consequences is a neat little town! Would definitely like to return one day.

Lovely house and garden
I really enjoyed this house! It is big and comfortable and has a lot of character. Not your bland functional rental! I had a busy schedule while in TorC but wished I had more time just to relax in the house and enjoy the space and ambiance. The garden is lovely, as is the screened in porch. Really a special place.

Lovely house
Love this house. Quiet neighborhood close to town. The yard attracts delightful birds. Older home but nicely updated. All appliances work great. Bedrooms are larger than I’d expected. Hope to stay again.

Wonderful Home
The home was in a perfect location to all that I had planned to do, and the park pass was a great perk! The only downside is that we all pay a cleaning fee when we rent a property. I feel that with the check-out procedures, we are paying a cleaning fee yet having to do quite a bit of cleaning before we can check out. If you have dogs also, the yard is riddled with cat feces, which I understand stray cats are not manageable, but it was excessive. There should also be disclosure if someone is living in the basement or the garage and attached space which is not accessible for guests at this property.

Prickly Pear Paradise
Absolutely wonderful, better than we expected. The house itself was beautiful and the layout was perfect for our needs. The yard is extremely well done and also was exactly what we needed. Thank you. Definitely recommend highly and would happily stay here again.

Awesome stay in T or C
We stayed four nights at Prickly Pear Cottage in T or C. The property is true or even better than the on -line description. It is a restored Arts and Crafts style home with the perfect mix of antiques and modern conveniences. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and the house was relaxing. The T or C historic area was only a few blocks away. We ordered food from Grapevine Bistro and Outer Edge Pizza. Both were very good. Bullocks grocery store was just a few minutes away too. The people in T or C and Sierra County all very friendly and helpful. We live in New Mexico and always enjoy visiting other parts of the State. I highly recommend a visit to T or C and a stay at Prickly Pear Cottage.

Not good for longer stays. Unfair rules.
We have stayed in many places over the past 1.5 years since our jobs became remote and we have been working on the road. We are very accustomed to what is expected at a home and what should be provided. Our experience at the Prickly Pear Cottage would be the only time, where we have encountered these issues which I will share here. Because the local contact, wasn't an easy person to work with initially, we chose not to contact her again and purchase some of these items ourselves. It was just not worth our time and energy. Her main agenda was to win arguments and make excuses, not solve issues. She also never reached out on her own to ask if everything was fine and if there was anything we needed. 1. This is a 3 bedroom 2 bath property that sleeps 6 people. Only 4.25 rolls of toilet paper were provided. We booked the place for 14 days. When I reached out to the property manager/local contact, she brought our attention to the house manual which stated that only an initial amount would be provided and the rest is our responsibility. Never have we ever encountered this issue. A reasonable amount of toilet paper for the duration of the stay has always been the standard. She later argued that they left what was sufficient for the two of us for the two weeks. So if I'd told her there would be 6 of us we would have been provided with more toilet paper? We paid for a 3 bedroom and the price is the same for 6 guest or 2 guest. After pointing this out to her, she finally dropped off more at the door the next day. 2. Coffee grounds for 1 cup of coffee was provided. Again this isn't standard. (had to purchase ourselves) 3. Salt and pepper shaker had enough just for a few days. There was rock salt but no way to crush/grind it. 4. No sugar provided. Only sweetener carefully rationed out - 2 for each day (28). 5. No hand soap in the kitchen. This is once again, standard. (had to purchase ourselves) 6. No Ziploc bags provided as per the listing. Only an empty box in the drawer. (had to purchase ourselves) 7. Broken bulb in the bedroom and no additional provided to replace. 8. Dog waste scattered all over one side of the yard. There were 5-6 spots. I covered them with rocks so we didn't have to step in it. For the price we are paying for cleaning, I expected a clean yard. 9. Mater bedroom with King size bed had NO duvet/comforter. Only thin coverlet or quilt. The other beds had comforters. I was cold at night. 10. No additional blankets were provided. NO throw blanket for the living room couch. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING 11. This next issue got us so upset we called Evolve about it. We paid a lot for a cleaning fee. In the house manual (this is not on their online listing so they can add this after the fact and you would have pretty much agreed to it when booking without knowing what is on it), you are instructed that you must leave the house the way you found it. The floors must be swept, vacuumed and mopped. The counters must be wiped down. The fridge and microwave cleaned. Never in the months of our travel through 13 states have we encountered this until now. BTW, these are terms we agreed to without ever knowing what the content of the house rules are. If I'd known this prior to booking I would have NOT BOOKED. It's not that we're messy and lazy people but their rules and behavior are unfair and not good practice. Someone is being paid a lot to clean the property but you are expected to help out the day you are leaving and have too much to do already? We called Evolve and they told me to feel free to not do them. I should mention though that it is standard to ask your guest to strip the linens off the beds and put all used towels on the floor. It is also standard to ask them to throw all trash into the outside bins and put all dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start it. That's it! 12. If you are planning on WORKING REMOTELY, please READ THIS. Another rule in their book is that you are not allowed to move any furniture before contacting them. I can understand that you must move furniture back to it's original location but to not be allowed to move anything without them being involved is a bit too much. One of the factors that contribute to our decision on which place to stay at is that there is sufficient work space for both of us. Most of the time the dinning room becomes my workspace but it is sometimes necessary to move the table closer to the wall so we can plug in our computer and monitor. My boyfriend would have to find any furniture that would work as a work desk and find a separate space so we don't bother each other during online calls. Though there were some nice things at this place, the issues we encountered outweighed them. When renting a place to stay and work away from our home, it is important for it to feel like home. Not like we are staying at someone else's place and where your comfort isn't their priority and abiding their unfair rules is. It wasn't a good exchange of price for what we got and how we were treated. It didn't make it feel like home. This place just did not work for us because of that.
