Truro is the city of Cornwall, full of activity all year round, with cobbled streets and small alleys that lead you to independent shops, cafés and bars. The highlight is the impressive cathedral. Weekly markets are full of gift ideas and tasty treats, and there are restaurants to suit everyone’s palate and budget, often using locally sourced produce. If you like history, take a walking tour of Truro and visit the museum, or pop into the local galleries and take in a show at the Hall for Cornwall.
Just over 1 mile away is the waterside village of Malpas, walk along and admire the excellent views of the river. If you want to venture further, catch the King Harry Ferry and spend a day in St Mawes. Situated in the beautiful Roseland, it is a popular area for tourists, visit the castle, wander around the shops, book a boat trip or just sit on the beach and admire the coastline that was used in the Poldark series.
