LOCATION:
The Truckee River House is a riverfront retreat on the Truckee River, a blue ribbon fishery. In addition, there are several other nice rivers and lakes nearby. The house is about 8 miles from Historic old town Truckee, 20 miles to the best Tahoe ski resorts, and many beautiful natural places including Donner Lake, Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe National Forest. The City of Reno and the Reno International Airport are just 30 miles away.
DESCRIPTION:
The Truckee River House is a cozy river front home with beautiful sweeping views of the Truckee River and mountains. A hidden gem in a small, secluded, and serene neighborhood. Recent modern mountain renovations and furnishings mix with vintage historic finishes from the 1890's and other renovations to create a playful mix of modern and rustic mountain style. The structure and systems have all been updated and the house is fully equipped with modern conveniences, just relax and enjoy the mountains.
FISHING YEAR ROUND
Here you will find some of the best fishing water that the Truckee River has to offer, and it's literally right in the backyard! Access the river at any public bridge (Hirschdale bridge is 100 yards from the house), from the Tahoe Pyramid Trail which parallels the river from Lake Tahoe all the way to Pyramid Lake in Reno, or at the California Conservancy lands and other public access points (access maps available at fishing shops). The Truckee River can be fished year round and there are several other great fisheries nearby. Fly fishing, Skiing, Paddling, Swimming, Biking, Hiking, Climbing, Adventure, Peace, Nature, and more, all right outside the door, a true nature lovers paradise!
UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS: New floors and mattresses, upstairs sleeps 8 people in beds. 3 Bedrooms: one king and two queens, plus twin bunk beds. 2 Bathrooms: whirlpool bath and shower in master bedroom, shower in guest bathroom. This level is perfect for 3 couples, or a romantic spacious getaway for two. This house is ideal for families with kids, and group retreats.
UPSTAIRS KITCHEN: 2025 makeover with reclaimed redwood cabinets. Appliances and floors updated a few years back. Full gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, all modern stainless steel appliances including: gas 5 burner stove top with griddle, dishwasher, side by side refrigerator, double oven, and microwave. Lots of pots and pans, cooking utensils, and small appliances such as toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, mixer, blender, slow cooker, and more...
UPSTAIRS LIVING ROOM: New furnishings - 70” flat screen TV, premium TV channel package, AppleTV box allows for streaming your media, leather sofa and chairs for lounging in front of AMAZING VIEWS of the Truckee River and mountains, and the toasty wood burning stove. New floors.
UPSTAIRS DINING AREA: New floors. Connected and open to the living room and kitchen, large rustic table with benches seats eight comfortably, views of the Truckee River and mountains.
UPSTAIRS DEN: new floors, original rock fireplace and vintage natural wood beadboard walls from the 1890's, comfortable leather seating, work desk with chair.
UPSTAIRS DECK: a large deck facing the river with amazing views of the river and mountains. There are two dining tables providing seating for 10, plus 4 lounge chairs and a new Weber propane grill (propane is provided). The dining area is covered by shade sails in the summer. The deck is gated in 2 places - good for keeping small children and dogs contained. Because the house is built into the hillside, the back deck is on the 2nd story with great views and stairs down to the back yard.
FRONT ENTRY HALL:
New remodel with metal and glass door, skylight, oak live edge bench, tile floors, plenty of room to move, hooks and storage for gear, and some of the original vintage 120 year old wood beadboard walls saved for their charm and history.
FRONT YARD: Heated concrete steps from the driveway to the front door so you don't have to shovel snow. Covered metal grate bridge, and covered patio with seating and firewood storage. Moss covered granite boulders and native plants are spread through the natural landscape. Chunky wood post and beam construction with concrete and metal work update this attractive new addition.
DOWNSTAIRS LEVEL - Recent remodel with a modern mountain mixed with mountain rustic style. New stair and metal railing from the upper level. Amenities downstairs include 1 bedroom with a king bed, walk in closet, and large lounge window bench. The separate bathroom has a luxurious 2 person shower and heated concrete floor. There is a big open living room with views of the river and mountains, a rustic rock fireplace with modern gas stove, bar / kitchenette with seating for 4, a sectional sofa in front of a the fireplace with a 46” flat screen TV, premium TV channel package, and AppleTV box allows you to stream your media. A second sectional sofa with coffee table makes a great gaming area. A very nice full size pool table completes this large open living room!
OTHER AMENITIES: forced air heat (no air conditioning), endless hot water supply (tankless) so everyone can have a hot shower or soak in the whirlpool bath after a day of skiing. Washer and dryer, cell phone service is good (no land line), and high-speed wireless internet (200mbps down / 20mbps up) with unlimited data (in Truckee service outages may be more frequent and speeds are inconstant. It may take days to restore due to harsh mountain conditions), cell service is good at the house for most major carriers.

At the Truckee River House we follow safety recommendations, and as always, provide a vacation home that is top notch when it comes to cleanliness, safety, and comfort. We understand there are many concerns about travel and we will work with guests to address these.
Travel related coronavirus information:
1. If you are sick, have been in contact with anyone sick, or have recently visited a quarantined area please do not visit the Truckee River House. Please contact the owner to change your reservation.
2. Purchase travel insurance to safeguard your investment. Travel insurance can be purchased through VRBO or through another travel insurance companies (search online for "travel insurance")
- Many plans are designed to cover you for cancellation due to fire, illness, work, weather, transportation issues, etc.
- Higher level plans offer a “cancel for any reason” option.
