Getting Around:
Getting around the Northstar California Resort and Truckee area is both convenient and efficient, especially when following a few best practices. Whether you're visiting during the snowy winter months or enjoying the summer, here are some tips to ensure smooth transportation:

Winter Transportation:
Northstar Shuttle Service: The best way to get around within the resort is by using the Northstar shuttle, which runs frequently throughout the village and resort areas. This complimentary shuttle offers convenient access to the Village, ski lifts, and other resort amenities, helping you avoid the hassle of driving and parking, especially during peak ski times.
Driving: If you do need to drive, be aware that winter conditions can be challenging with heavy snowfall. It’s essential to have a 4x4 vehicle or AWD with snow tires. Chains are also required to be carried by law during snowstorms, even if you have a 4x4. Keep in mind that parking within Northstar can be limited during busy weekends and holidays.
Summer Transportation:
During the summer, the Northstar shuttle service remains a convenient way to get around the resort, especially if you're heading to the Village for dining, shopping, or outdoor events.
Walking and Biking: Northstar is also highly walkable, with well-maintained paths connecting different parts of the resort. Many guests prefer biking or walking to explore the beautiful scenery or access trails for hiking and mountain biking.
Exploring Truckee:
If you're venturing into Truckee, it’s a short drive from Northstar. For more eco-friendly or convenient travel, consider using TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit) buses, which connect Northstar with Truckee and other areas around North Lake Tahoe.
Avoiding Peak Traffic:
During ski season, traffic can get heavy around early morning and late afternoon as guests head to or from the slopes. To avoid this, consider using the shuttle system or planning your travel outside these busy times.
By relying on public transportation, walking, or utilizing the Northstar shuttle service, you’ll have an easier and more enjoyable time getting around, avoiding the stress of driving, parking, and navigating snowy conditions.

Great location, but a bit cramped
Hello fellow VBRO-ers ... First Ken and Danielle are great hosts, and did a wonderful job preparing the space for our visit ... everything was clean, well stocked and they were easy to reach whenever we had questions (A).Second, the location is excellent ... the ski slope in the trees behind the condo is a short 30 second run to the Village Express chairlift and main Gondola near the rental shop. It took a few seconds to remove our skis and walk in the front door of the round floor unit ... exactly as described (A).Lastly, the overall space is a bit cramped for more than 2 people and other than the bar stools, there weren't any table and chairs to sit around for meals or games. The master bedroom has a king bed (very comfortable), but there is only a foot of room around 2 of 3 sides to navigate (so be careful you do not hit your head on the wall mounted TV). Also, there is only one night stand by the bed and no dresser for cloths; you do get half of the closet hangers. (C).In the common area, the owner has installed a king sized Murphy bed (also very comfortable), but it's a challenge to find a place to store the sofa when the bed is folded down (C).The kitchen is clean, well-equipped, and good to cooking most meals, but challenging for more than 1 person at a time (B-)Overall, it is a small, well-furnished, clean condo located directly on the slopes ... so, if you are visiting Northstar to ski, and sleep it's the perfect spot for a few fun days on the slopes.

Wonderful small condo
The location can’t be beat! You literally walk out the door, go to the back of the building and you are on the ski trail down to the gondola and lift! Condo was very clean, excellent small kitchen, VERY comfortable beds, including the Murphy bed in the living room. Ken was super responsive. Only minor downside is that the condo is quite small for a family of 4 including 2 teenagers, for example, the couch can seat 2, maybe 3 people, and there are no other comfy chairs to chill on besides barstools or folding chairs. We were OK with that, knowing that we were going to be able to ski in and out was better for us.
