Great Location for Riding ATV/UTV
Nice central location to ride trails or forest roads Nice size driveway for multiple trucks and trailers. House worked great for our group size of 7. There was plenty of room if you have a larger group then us.

It worked very well for our group and we had a great time. Property was as described and well appointed for our time there. A/C would have been nice as it warm during the day, but being in the UP, it cooled down at night.

annual sibling get together
Overall a great stay. The water from the house's well has a strong sulfur taste. It would be best to take along water to drink. The house is near the lake but not on the lake as the one of the pictures seems to suggest. The host was extremely responsive and returned emails within a very short time.

Nice house
The house was amazing. The queen beds definitely need a mattress upgrade they had were uncomfortable, the yard is amazing I was sad we were unable to spend time outside by the fire because the mosquitos were so thick. The water is from a well so it has a smell but that happens. A little to far from everything for me but can’t say I was completely disappointed.

We rented for a snowmobiling long weekend for 3 couples, and the place was perfect for that purpose. The issues we had were very small and insignificant (e.g., no basket in the coffee maker). I very much recommend this place, particularly for snowmobiling.

Easy and Clean
We wanted to visit various places in the UP and needed a central place to use as our base. This property in Trout Lake was perfect for our needs. Easy access to everywhere we wanted to visit and one central sleeping point.

The only thing we were not prepared for was the amount of mosquitoes that were in yard and in house. Overall we only were there each day to sleep.

Property was clean and exactly what was expected. Plenty of room for my family along with enough dishes, towels, etc which is sometime a problem with a large family. Easy check in and out. I would definately recommend!

Comfortable for three couples. Liked outdoor sitting areas. Nice remodel on this older building. Only suggestion: add mixing bowls & baking pans. No 8x8, 9x13, muffin tins.

The house has been renovated and is very cute and quaint. We liked the fact there were 2 bathrooms, one on each level. Only thing might improve on would be. Screens in the windows.

Great place for our girls weekend.
The place was immaculate, cute and the perfect size for the five adults. A few suggestions since it was a new VBRO but they were very responsive and took our suggestions to heart. Lots of fans so it was cool enough. Kitchen was perfect. Lots of places to sit and a bonus space in the garage if you want an outdoor party. We would stay there again for sure.

Home in UP
It was a great place the house and space . Cute small town. Thought the place was on the lake was a little disappointed but we were very close and enjoyed fishing and kayaking. Rentals right in town. The general store had a great selection of everything you may need. Michigan mesquites in the summer but house had spray and other things to use. Overall a great house with lots of room.

Perfect location and space
I gave this a 5 for almost everything - it was the perfect location for our family as my parents have a cabin about 5 miles outside Trout Lake. The rooms were adequate, the bathrooms were mostly good, but the tub was awkward to shower in as it was a handicapped tub with seat and door. It left very little room to actually stand. We did not mind the sulfur smell of the water - it reminded us of hot springs we have visited. There is only 1 a small window AC unit in one bedroom - it was fine for our stay as the weather was not hot, but the listing is a bit misleading there. We never tried to walk to the lake because we were not sure where there would actually be public access, but it was definitely across and down the street, not by the house. Overall, we would stay here again. Thank you for a pleasant property right where we needed it. 😊

Picture is deceiving and water is rancid
The bads: When initially looking at this property it shows a picture of a backyard near a lake. The property is no where near the lake so we were a bit disappointed and this felt deceiving. The bathroom is a handicapped shower so it is very tiny. House does not have central air but has a room a/c unit so not a huge deal but just wanted to point this out for the next renter. The biggest disappoint is the water as it has a strong sulfur smell so you basically feel like you are showering in sewage. This is not the owners fault but also wanted to point out it is a mosquito breeding ground so we couldnt enjoy the outside much. The goods: huge yard and driveway to be able to pull trucks and trailers in. House was clean and the beds were comfy. Dishes were provided as well as access to the garage. Due to their not being central air, the host provided many fans. Washer and dryer were also a nice bonus. Check in and check out process was very smooth. Overall, the host was very accommodating and the house served its purpose. However, i would not stay here again as the smell from the water was unbearable and it was not near the lake as the picture showed.

Not quite what we were expecting
PROS: decent amount of space, good wifi for U.P., fairly centrally located for attractions. Good fans downstairs. CONS: very open location with no privacy from neighbors/road. No instructions for downstairs tub, not enough hot water to fill tub, shower pressure minimal. Only one towel bar between two bathrooms (for a rental that sleeps 10.) Upstairs shower stall is small, lace curtains offer no privacy, no outlets in bathroom (or most of upper level), no mirror, no place to even hang hand towel. Dresser drawers were dirty, floors left feet dirty. Two beds listed as queens are actually fulls. Upstairs full bed uncomfortable. Twin beds were not fully made upon arrival - missing mattress pads and one flat sheet, which could not be found in the house. Many items were brand new (not washed), including dishes, towels, and sheets. All bedrooms had sheer curtains (hard to get kids to sleep in summer.) White stains on upstairs sitting room chair, no lighting in that room. Leather(?) couch in living room was peeling when sat upon. None of the main living area windows had screens, so we couldn't cool down the main floor well. There were nails sticking out of the walls and rough/unfinished baseboards, which caused my youngest to cut open her foot when she accidentally stepped backward to the wall. Washing machine was very confusing - no instructions, most settings would not result in the machine filling with water. Outdoor umbrella not weighted. Unclear instructions on where to find nearby amenities like swimming area, lake access - had to talk to local store owner for info. (It actually a local campground that you can visit. Not a great beach area, but the kids still enjoyed getting wet the one day we went.) I feel like we had realistic expectations for a U.P. home, and anticipated some glitches as the first renters. But the number of little inconveniences or quirks really added up to make this a less than fabulous stay. We ended up buying Command hooks, plastic to cover the bedroom window, a battery-powered night light, a can opener, serving spoons, and a few other things we really hadn't anticipated. Fortunately we enjoyed the excursions we took to Pictured Rocks and other places, which redeemed the trip. We were able to play games around the table and the host kindly made sure we had a leaf so we could all eat together, although two of the dining chairs are essentially outdoor chairs. It was a decent time together, but we would not return.
