Simply sweet creekside cottage with loft

Description
Nestled in the Blueridge mountains, this cozy cottage sits on 3 acres with frontage on Laurel Creek and a smaller babbling creek along the side yard. Minutes from the Virginia Creeper and Appalachian Trail, there is plenty to do if adventure is your goal or, enjoy the comfort and relaxation inside the beautifully decorated cottage with a good book or cook an amazing dinner in the full kitchen.

The Space
Sitting beside a windy mountain road, the cabin was hand-built with many craftsman details by the original owner and lovingly renovated by us with our family and travelers needs in mind. A perfect cottage for couples or small families, the master and guest bedrooms are on the main level and the loft has three built in full beds and a bathroom with clawfoot tub. Quiet but not secluded, the covered wrap around porch is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee (drip, French pressed or pour over) while listening to the small mountain stream that boarders the yard. A short walk through the woods to the back of the property leads you to the lively Whitetop Laurel Creek, rated one of the best natural trout streams in the Southeast. (FLY FISHING!) The cottage is NOT child-proof. There are stairs without hand rails, there is a fireplace and a fire pit; there is water around the cottage- all of which require careful supervision of little children by their parents.
If you want to explore, we are minutes from the Virginia Creeper Trail, The Appalachian Trail, Beartree Lake and Trail Town USA, Damascus.
It is our hope you leave our cottage inspired and restored for your next

Guest Access
The whole cottage and yard beside and behind the cottage are yours to use and enjoy! The only place off limits are the locked storage closets upstairs in the loft and the upstairs balcony.

Neighborhood
Located in the friendly community of Konnarock, the cottage sits beside a windy mountain road that follows Laurel Creek through the mountains. We share a driveway with our neighbors who are located about two acres away from the cottage. Across the creek is a well-stocked community store that also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner if you don't feel like cooking! There is no guaranteed cell phone coverage in our area, but we are equipped with Wi-Fi.

Other Details to Note
-This is our home, please treat it as you would your own.
-The cottage is family friendly but not baby or child proof so please watch your little ones closely. Please be aware that our property has a loft and steep steps upstairs.
- The cottage does not have hand rails on the porch or on the lower half up the indoor staircase.
-Please keep the door to the upstairs small balcony locked and closed. It is not available to use during your stay.
-We love our neighbors and share a driveway with them. Please be respectful when they pass by.

Adorable place to relax
We loved staying here. Even my kids who I'd don't think would notice how well styled it is and how comfortable that made it to stay there. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, the fire pit in the back nice to use. The only downside was leaving anas in we didn't want to leave and the Google map direct ions were a little weird but we found it and had a great time.

Wonderful Stay Hurricane and All
What a weekend! Hurricane Helene came through on the first day of our stay. Autumn (owner) was fabulous with communication! We lost power and water (she warned us of the very likely possibility). Instead of hiking on the AT and biking on the Creeper Trail we spent our weekend helping neighbors. The house was wonderful and we have already planned a return visit. Thanks for everything!!

Perfect Location For Whitetop Activites
Super comfortable and well-stocked cottage that was a perfect base-camp for a nearby reunion and the Creeper Trail. Autumn is a great host and replied quickly to any question. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend!

A cozy stay
The farm house is every bit as cozy as the pictures make it look. House is very clean and well organized. We could find everything we needed, with the exception of a wine opener. :) My kids loved the 3 beds upstairs, the fire pit, and the creek in the back thru the woods. There's a small gas station/grocery store nearby that was really convenient. Was nice to have for some essentials we had forgotten to bring. Conveniently located to the Creeper Trail, which is what brought us to the area. The host was attentive to any questions we had, and was always quick to respond.

Nice Trip
Our stay at the Coppertop House was nice! Everything was clean and host provided a guide book for all our questions. Location is pretty but close to main road. Creek not visible from home. But overall a nice cozy place for a short visit.

Wonderful Stay at Copper Top Cottage
Came to the area to bike on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Had awesome weather for the drive to Virginia & the day we rode the trail. Enjoyed relaxing at the cottage & appreciate the many TV channels. Thanks for a memorable stay in Virginia. We looked for a guest book to sign but didn't find one.

Such a wonderful place to stay near Damascus
We met our son and his wife to spend a few days together at the cabin. The location was perfect for fishing , hiking, and biking. Unfortunately the rains put quite a damper on our plans. Not anything anyone can control so we enjoyed talking and reading on the front porch. We had several deer stroll by, and saw a mink, and several rabbits enjoying the meadow out front. The host purchased new pots and pans that are amazing and also built hand rails outside. Clearly they are a-tuned to the reviews. This is one of the nicest VBRO cabins we have stayed at. The town Damascus is about 25 minutes away and Elk Garden is a great place to park and hike. The KRock grocery had almost everything we needed.

Cute But Lacking Function
The place is super cute, but the functionality was lacking. Not suitable for elderly folks. No handrails on the steps outside or anything to grab onto in the shower. The water is either scolding hot or cold, and the place was super frigid when we arrived. We had a 6-night stay, and there were a total of 3 clean washcloths for our party of 4. There is also no washing machine - which wouldn't have been a huge deal if we had had more washcloths. There are no hangers, which makes sense when you realize there is no place to hang any clothing anyway, lol. However, there was an iron and an ironing board. The bedrooms themselves have no climate control of any sort, so if privacy is your thing, this is not the place for you. Thankfully, we brought heaters from our family cabin down the road and could heat the rooms at night and shut the doors. There was an odor that I assume was coming from the septic and, at times, was rather unpleasant. The beds were comfy, and the aesthetic/decor was nice. The appliances worked well, but the cookware is non-stick (terrible for your health) that is so beat up and damaged that I'm sure we ingested our fair share of Teflon. The property manager is very nice and was helpful when I needed to reach out to her. This post in no way is meant to be a poor reflection of her - just facts about the location and our experience from a functional standpoint.

Cozy Stay
I love this cozy cabin. It was just my husband and myself. In the mornings the sun was beautiful coming up through the woods. The porch was cozy and comfortable in the evenings to sit on. I appreciated the light blocking curtains in the bedroom. The king bed was so comfortable, we almost didn’t want to get up for the day. Everything was explained well and easy to use. We visited Whitetop Mounatin one evening (always put your location in your gps before leaving the cabins wifi) and the next day we went to the town of Damascus for coffee and lunch. Such a wonderful stay.

Cozy Cabin in a Great Location
The cabin is adorable, clean, and cozy. We came up to do the Creeper Trail bike ride and it's close enough to Damascus that it was an easy ride into town. The kids loved exploring the woods around the cabin and the front porch was a nice spot to just relax. Autumn was very communicative with the check in process and answered our questions quickly. A great place to stay if you're looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway!

Perfect little cabin
Wonderfully decorated and impeccably clean! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Konnarock at the Copper Top cabin. The host checked in with us a few times to make sure all was good. There's not much in terms of stores/restaurants nearby but the K-Rock store around the corner is great in a pinch for supplies and has yummy bacon cheeseburgers. The cabin was a terrific base to explore the many hiking trails at Grayson Highlands (35 mins), Elk Garden and Whitetop (20 mins) and Straight Branch creek (15 mins). We rented bikes in Damascus (30mins) for the Creeper Trail which was a beautiful, easy ride and a ton of fun. Last day we went further afield to The Channels trail (~45 mins) which is such an unusual geological find. My kids loved the loft bedroom. We'd highly recommend the Copper Top cabin to others looking to explore SW VA.

Just Be
What an amazing little cottage! The front porch swing was a perfect place for morning coffee surrounded by nature and the birds chirping. We loved ending our day around the camp fire ring with smores. The general store KROCK less than 2 miles away was small and quaint and had everything you would need. We even got dinner their one night and went back to the house and had a picnic on the front porch. 1.8 miles from this cottage is an entrance to the Virginia Creeper Trail, place to sit and play in the creek, nice walking path and beautiful nature. This was my kids highlight! The town of Damascus has some cute little shops and we loved the small town. We will definitely be back soon. The house had everything we needed and the owner provided suggestions on what to do and where to go. Upon checkin we had a cold bottle of wine and fresh made muffins on the table waiting for us! 5 stars for sure!!
