"Perfect hotel"

"This hotel is one in a million. The teams on the front desk and in the restaurant were just so very professional and welcoming. The breakfast was really delicious, and catered for every different need. We had a lovely room, the pillows were a little hard but the bed was very comfortable. The lighting was ambient and really showed off the uniqueness of the room. In the suite there was no separate place to sit (as would be usual in a suite) so this was disappointing, so when it was warm enough we sat outside which was lovely to watch the beautiful swifts, house martins & swallows busy at work! Be careful of the steps up and down the property, particularly in your room if you are in a suite. It can catch you out if you are half asleep getting to the bathroom. We loved our time in the Spa too, we visited twice. The facilities were everything we needed, we didn't need more although the team there were not as forthcoming and friendly as the teams in the rest of the hotel. The massages we had were very good though. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our trip. Matera is wonderful and magical. Staying in this hotel really helped us feel more 'in the zone' and we loved Vito, always there to help when we needed and the reception team were also GREAT! Thank you xx"

"Beautiful room in a cave with independent entrance. Touristic but also quiet location. The access is a bit complicated if carrying bags. Great service and breakfast in the room. I would recommend to friends and family. "

"Fantastic location in the middle of the Sassi!! Cannot beat the views from the various suites! Taxis are also able to drive right up to the hotel, which made for a very convenient pick up and drop off. And the breakfast! WOW! One of the best we have had in Europe in terms the wide variety of local selection and service. The room was quite large and cozy for a cave. It was a little damp/stuffy, plus the floor had small ants all over the place, but can't really complain about that given you are staying in a cave. As this is also a spa, I was expecting a little better amenities in terms of body wash, hair wash, etc. They do provide slippers though which was amazing on the stone floors. We only stayed one night, so did not get a chance to check out the spa but would have loved to. Would highly recommend staying here!"

"This is an INCREDIBLE hotel...from the initial communication, arranging our ground transportation, being met by Jennifer and given a history of Matera to the stunningly beautiful cave we slept in, this was a perfect place. The breakfast was beautiful and delicious. The setting of Matera is stunning. My only regret is that we only had one night there. I am already trying to plan a return trip."
