Amazing stay in Piedmont
We had a fantastic stay at Cascina Bricchetto. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway right in the heart of the Piedmont food and wine district, it's hard to imagine a better option. Amazing views of the hills and vineyards right from your front balcony. Giovanna was an amazing host, always available and willing to help make recommendations and reservations for trips in the region. We were traveling with our 1-yr old daughter, and Giovanna made sure all bases were covered. There was a highchair, swing set and other toys to keep her entertained. Giovanna even provided some vegetables from her garden and helped find us a babysitter (who was great) so mom and dad could have a night out. The friendly dogs including a huge sheepdog were great playmates for our daughter. Overall, a terrific vacation and we can't wait to make it back!

A Little Corner of Heaven
Our one week stay at Cascina Brichetto was AMAZING! The Apartment - Ca der Forn, is a spacious 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath attached home. The modern kitchen is equipped with everything one could want or need. We cooked several delicious meals - Giovanna has thought of everything, including a Parmesean Grater! The vacation apartment sits high up on a ridge overlooking the rolling hills covered in small vineyards. It is a peaceful and idyllic place. The owner has done a great job renovating the old farmhouse. The home is very comfortable and extremely clean! There are maps and guidebooks galore, so one has no trouble finding things to do in the area. Giovanna is a very helpful and enthusiastic hostess, she helped us make reservations with many wineries for personal tours. Her recommendations for Restaurants or towns to visit were wonderful. We enjoyed a few memorable meals and many good glasses of wine. We took a cooking class with Giovanna, in her home, and were amazed and pleased to be able to make our own pasta, meat ragu sauce, rabbit and a yummy dessert! We can highly recommend Cascina Brichetto for a lovely vacation.

Piemonte in the Fall
After waiting for years to be able to travel in the fall, my husband and I were able to spend two weeks at Cuscina Bricchetto in October 2012. What a little slice of heaven. The views over the vineyards and to the towns in the distance have haunted me since my return home. All I want to do is go back to Giovanna's retreat and sit on the balcony outside the bedroom and take in the beauty of the Piedmont all over again. The apartment is very well equipped and comfortable. Big windows let in the view and fresh air. Everything is clean and Giovanna is very responsive to any needs. We had several friends join us for periods of time and Giovanna took the time to get to know all of them. She even played chauffeur one evening when we were hesitant about driving back up the (scary) road after going out for a multi-course dinner with plenty of wine flowing. Not her usual role but she was willing. Cascina Bricchetto is set up on a hill and the access to it requires some careful driving. Others say they got used to it but we didn't. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Alba and along the way you pass the legendary town of Barbaresco along with other charming towns. We loved our long and lazy days at Cascina Bricchetto.

Great Hospitality, Very Comfortable Place, Amazing recommendations and reservations made for us
We arrived late on a Sunday evening to find two bottles of wine and food in the kitchen for us to prepare. Giovanna greeted us warmly and oriented us to the apartment (Ca der Forn). She is the consummate host; she is available if you need her but does not smother. We asked for recommendations for wine tasting in advance, and she arranged spot-on reservations for us with the winemakers of small family-run wineries that make the full spectrum of the Region's amazing Barolo, Barbaresco and other nebbiolo-based artisan wines. The restaurant reservations likewise scored with our family. Giovanna sent us to a range of the type of restaurants in the region, all of them turning out amazing meals that paired perfectly with the local wines. Giovanna is proud of the various bounties the Piedmont region has to offer, and we'd strongly recommend you just let her know what your interests are (especially before you show up) and let her set you up for an unforgettable experience. The apartment and grounds are comfortable, spacious, and beautifully appointed. She has lovely art on the walls, beautiful decorations and lighting fixtures, and nice glassware for the wines and aperitifs you might buy during the day. There is a charming covered outside dining patio as well as a sunny balcony for taking in the view. She has laundry (hang to dry) and a dishwasher, plenty of hot water, and an impressive radiator-based heating system that we, thankfully, did not need, as we had beautiful weather. The kitchen is fully stocked to cook your meals and make your coffees. The views out the window are amazing, and you can walk or run through the vineyards or up the country road for exercise or a stroll. You are not in town- this is a mountain-top retreat, and consequently is very quiet and relaxing. A car is a must, unless you are serious cyclists I suppose. Giovanna's two dogs are friendly and good company. All in all, Cascina Bricchetto was a lovely place to stay, and we can't wait to get back to further enjoy Giovanna's hospitality and amazing place.

Spectacular in every way
This property is truly extraordinary. Located in a vineyard at the top of a hill, the views are stunning in every direction. The accommodations are charming, spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, and have every convenience readily available. There is easy access by car to many excellent restaurants, wine cellars, and sites of interest. In addition to all of these lovely features, there is the amazing owner and hostess Giovanna. She was attentive to our every need and then some, as she simultaneously managed the grape harvest. Her recommendations for places to visit were terrific. Indeed, she made reservations for a number of restaurants and wine cellars, capitalizing on her extensive knowledge of the area and connections with key people. Every experience was interesting and rewarding. This is a highly recommended must-return vacation venue.

Beautiful, well-appointed home
This home exceeded expectations on all counts. Beautiful, clean, easily accommodated 3 couples with complete privacy for each. Kitchen was modern and exceptionally well stocked. Peaceful with beautiful views of vineyards and orchards, pear trees lining the driveway, yet <15 minutes to Alba. Our host, Giovanna, provided excellent customer service, including local knowledge, making restaurant reservations, touring ideas, and a wonderful dinner. She can provide extensive breakfasts with freshly baked goods every day, additional cost. Do not be put off by the road up to the home. We travelled it multiple times each day in an oversized van without any problems! The home offers a perfect location for exploring nearby Alba (fantastic town), Barbaresco and Barolo wine regions, the Langhe and the Alta Langhe areas. We spent a week there and barely scratched the surface! Definitely recommend this property without reservation to anyone wishing to explore this region from a quiet but central location.

Immersi nelle Langhe

Comfortable,clean,commodious hilltop tranquillity
Six of us stayed in this most picturesque 2 storied hillside home for a week, and had a wonderful time.We had a double bedroom ensuite for each couple, the top units having panoramic views over rolling hillsides of vineyards. We bought food locally and cooked in the fully equipped kitchen, having afternoon tea and evening dinners on a covered verandah next to the house, which had it's own views over the rear valleys.Early morning walks took us past fruit trees and our host Giovanna's prolific garden, full of delicious tomatoes and other vegetables, herbs and fig trees. Her advice about local restaurants and providores was invaluable, and given with great bonhomie. We loved our stay.

Brilliant slow holiday in
Fantastic facility in a quiet and beautiful area that is not yet swamped with tourists. The Cascina is well positioned to discover the surprising Langhe and Roero area in the Northern part of Italy. Good wine and restaurants, nice little towns, beautiful landscapes and excellent opportunities to do long walks. We stayed in Ca der Forne for 12 days. The house is luxuriously equipped and immaculately clean. Giovanna, the owner and host is lovely and helped us to discover the area with advice where to go and even making reservations. She's doing her best to make you feel at home without pushing. She learned us how to cook a traditional Italian meal and even let us use her car when ours was in the garage for repair. Outstanding place which we can really recommend.

A perfect stay
Our family of four spent a wonderful week in this well designed and immaculate house with its incredible view. We found the house itself to be the most comfortable we have experienced in our numerous trips to Italy, with a kitchen that has everything one could want. We cooked local Piedmontese steaks, risotto, or pasta every night at home so that we could watch the glorious sunsets. Because so many lovely towns are nearby, including Alba, Neive, Barbaresco, Bra, and Borolo, we walked and explored them each day and ate our lunches there. Giovanna was gracious and helpful and we were especially grateful for the wine tasting tours she arranged with small wineries in the area. My best memory will be of the evening when I was stirring an incredible mushroom black truffle risotto on the stove, glanced our the window at a gorgeous sunset, and saw that the Alps were out for the first time during our stay. With great food, lovely walking, hospitality, and such a pleasant house, this was a perfect Piedmont vacation.

Wonderful host / beautiful home
Cascina Bricchetto Langhe (Bread Oven House) was immaculate with beautiful woodwork, antiques, Murano glass, attention to details, elegant and very comfortable. It was on a hill and surrounded by vineyards. Our GPS had trouble getting us there the first time. There were a lot of winding, narrow roads. At Cascina Bricchetto were two covered outdoor areas each with table and chairs that were perfect for eating dinner and looking out at the awesome views. Giovanna and I emailed each other months before our visit. She made dinner reservations, "Trattoria Cascina Schiavenza" at Serralunga d' Alba (a 25 minute drive but the excellent food made it worth the drive) and set up two wine tours with English speaking guides, "La Barbatella" in Nizza Monferrato and "Tenuta San Biagio" in La Morra. They were both wonderful. Also months before our arrival, I asked Giovanna how I could find an interpreter in a small village north of Torino where my great-grandparents used to live. I had been told that I still had some cousins there. Well, Giovanna found a person who was an historian, interpreter, contacted my cousins and was willing to meet us there for the day so he could interpet and tell us about the history of Levone. I will ever be grateful to Giovanna for the awesome day I had visiting Levone and meeting my cousins. We also had arranged for Giovanna to provide breakfast our first morning there. It was very good and enough for 2 days. She lives in the home next door so it was very convenient if we needed help with anything. I would recommend this place in Piedmont. It was so relaxing to be able to walk among the vineyards and have dinner with such beautiful views.

Great property in a great location
Our family of three rented Cà der Forn (The Bread Oven House) for two weeks. The location of the property and the quality of the property were both outstanding. The two bedrooms (upstairs) and the downstairs living area are tastefully decorated and the home is maintained as you would maintain your own property, both in quality and furnishings. The kitchen area is roomy and allows you to cook, without feeling cramped. The appliances are all high quality and the washing machine is great when you are on a long vacation. The photos are representative of the rentals. Giovanna also provides grills for BBQ and a covered garage for your car. She takes great pride in her rental units and also will provide appointments for wine tasting and truffle hunting, if you request. The location of her property sits atop a ridge, with her vineyard on both sides of the home. She also maintains a garden and kept us supplied with fresh tomatoes, peppers, squash and fruits. This location might not appeal to everyone. Neive is about a 15 minute drive and Alba 25 minutes, so night life requires a car ride. But the beauty of the views over the valley and the vineyards and distance Alps (on a clear day) are breathtaking. We intend to return over the next couple of years and have absolutely no concerns in recommending these two rentals to both friends and readers. Giovanna, we will see you again.

Unforgettable Piemonte holiday experience
Situated on a Piemonte hilltop with great views on the Alps, and surrounded by moscato vineyards, this place is truly a gem. The house is absolutely great. Its spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and caters for absolutely everything one needs when traveling with a family. The pictures on the web are simply not doing justice to the sheer beauty of the house and its surroundings. Our kids had a great time as well. They had great fun on the swing, playing football and a game of bowls in the garden, and of course with the lovely dogs; Pipo and Peppa. The greatest asset of all is Giovanna herself. What a great hostess. She is entertaining, loves kids, provides tons of good suggestions (from tasting wine to eating out in child-friendly restaurants in the area). Besides, she taught us how to make a proper frittata di Liguria. Her 'orto' is full of delicious fruits, vegetables and herbs. We never tasted any better figs than those from her garden. All in all, we had a great holiday, and would definitely recommend Ca der Forn to other people. Love to return. Ci vediamo Edwin and Inez

Beautiful home!
My two adult children, my husband and I stayed at Cascina Bricchetto. What a wonderful stay! The accommodations, hospitality, and arrangements made for us at wineries and restaurants were of the highest quality. The area was named to the World Heritage Sites and it is well deserved. Even the little things such as a hazelnut coffee cake waiting for us on the dining table or suggestions for a butcher, or sharing a new herb from her garden made us feel like family. All of these things plus appointments to visit wineries where we felt like friends (and sampled of the outstanding Piamontese wines from the nebeola grapes) made this trip exceptional! The quiet serenity of the surrounding vineyards with a distant church bell, the graciousness of our hostess, the beauty of the people, and the fantastic wines will stay with us forever. We would recommend this accommodation to our friends and family without hesitation!

Wonderful home away from home!
Our family of three stayed in the Bread Oven house for one week in late June/early July. The house was meticulously clean with charming décor and a nicely updated kitchen. It had everything we needed, including plenty of dishes, kitchenware, towels and soaps. From inside and outside the house, there are amazing views of the surrounding hills and vineyards. The location was perfect for exploring local hill towns, the nearby city of Alba, and Torino (a short train ride away). The local food is so delicious and probably our favorite of all the parts of Italy we've been to. What made the visit extra special was Giovanna, the owner of the property. She really went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We ordered breakfast for the morning after our arrival, and had enough delicious cake, bread, biscuits, yogurt, cheese, jam, honey, milk and orange juice to last us days. Giovanna gave us advice on places to visit and had dozens of brochures and maps available in the house. Our seven year old enjoyed playing with all the outdoor toys and the swings. We also took a cooking class from Giovanna one afternoon. Our son had fun helping make fresh pasta, and while the food was cooking, Giovanna had art supplies at the ready to keep him busy. The 4 course meal we made was one of the most delicious meals we had on our trip and it lasted us 3 days! The two dogs on the property were very sweet to us and even followed us on some of our evening walks, to the delight of our son. It was hard to leave after just one week. It is truly the best rental we have ever stayed in. Grazie mille, Giovanna! We will be back!

Far above expectations!
We stayed in the Ca der Forn house in June 2014, along with our son and his wife. Four wonderful days! The house has everything you could possibly need: immaculately clean; modern bathrooms and bedrooms; kitchen perfectly stocked with dishes, flatware, glasses, spices and staples for those who want to cook. The house sits on a ridge with sweeping views both North and south over slopeps covered with vineyards with villages and mountains in the distance. Giovanna is a wonderful host! Prior to our visit she asked us what we wanted to do in the region, then suggested places and offered to make reservations. I was a bit skeptical at first since we like to discover places on our own, but accepted her offer. Her suggestions were perfect! We sampled local restaurants of all levels, from simple local trattorias to an elegant formal restaurant. She arranged visits to small wineries, some less than 500 cases per year, where we tasted the wines with the winemakers. Based on our descriptions of what we wanted to see, she helped us know which villages to visit, and even what days they had their local markets. There would have been no way that we could have been so immersed in this wonderful region without her help. We ordered breakfast for the first day of our visit and the food lasted us for three mornings! It included homemade bread, pastries and preserves as well as local cheeses, coffee, tea, etc. Giovanna knows the perfect balance between being available when needed, and staying away to let her guests explore and enjoy. I don't have enough superlatives to do this visit justice. This was clearly the highlight of our vacation which included Germany, Cinque Terre, Piemonte and the Rhone valley. If you visit the Langhe region and want to stay in the country rather than in a town, you cannot do better than to stay with Giovanna.

Maison super agreable

We visited cascina Bricchetto in August 2013, we are a family with 2 daughters (1,5 and 4,5 yr). This was the 8th time we went to Italy, the second time we went to Piemonte. At arrival we met Giovanna, the host/owner, who's speaking good english. She showed us the house: this was the cleanest rentalhome we ever had!! Everything was spotless, the kitchen was well equipped (even the oven looks brand-new). We also had enough wine glasses ( the big ones, not the silly little ones) to taste the regional bottles of wine. In 6 years of Italian holidays, this was the first time the wine could breathe!! About the wine: at arrival we found a couple of bottles...even a Barbera d'Alba...altought Giovanna preferes the Barbera d'Asti (I mentioned the Alba one in a mail to her). This looks like a detail....but this is what Giovanna stands for: she is looking for the total satisfection for her guests!! And you can "feel" this in many things: the wine, the fresh vegetables from her Garden/orto (orto: the word she teached me the second day) the tips she was giving to do some nice trips,.... The same way you can feel she is proud to share here house/knowledge to enjoy this beautifull region...she is a worthy ambassador for Piemonte! The house is like the description on her site: it is complete: towels, soap, showergel,...., a lot of touristic information and maps... We took a breakfast for one day...it was enough for 3 days...! Plenty of local cheese, home made marmelade, superbe honey and.....the best cake we ever had!!! In addition a nice moscato (from her own grapes).... This was devine! This is holidayfood with an A++++++ rate! In the Garden we found a lot of toys for our girls, even a little padding pool to cool down... We are still missing the terrace and the grill...and the view!! This was extraordinary: the hills, the vineyards, the little villages at the horizon...and Monviso! The Garden is well-kept, you will find a lot of flowers, fruittrees and plants... And Giovanna is like a botanic guide, she knows al the names. I could write positive about everything...the only negative was the fact we had to go home after 2 weeks... We still have the memories about the stunning views, the food, the wine, the little towns, the friendly people, the fantastic local meat.... And last but not least a fantastic host! She is a true contribution to your holiday... One day we will return! We highly recommend this place!! Jorgen, Sandy, Mila Nore, Emiliana. Belgium

Great apartment, stunning setting, helpful hostess
We were two couples and spent five nights here at the end of May. The description of the property was accurate, the photos don't do the apartment and the scenery justice (it's even better), and it was spotless. The apartment itself was spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. It was a fine place to relax in the morning and before and after dinner. The panoramic views of the Alps and countryside were stunning. Giovanna was a wonderful hostess. She had suggestions for dinners and made reservations for us - she knew almost all the restaurants within a reasonable drive. We were looking for places serving local fare with good wine lists, and we were quite pleased with her choices. She also set up tastings for us at a winery in Barolo and one in Barbaresco, and based on our experiences there, I wouldn't hesitate to have her set one up for every day. Her recommendations for scenic towns and castles were also spot on. One thing about the Langhe region is that often there are not a lot of east-west roads, so to get from one place to another requires traveling north or south a ways, through beautiful countryside, darn - bring your cameras! We came upon some of the most beautiful views when we got temporarily lost. The home is a great place to get away and let the everyday stresses slip away. I highly recommend it, would stay there again, and hope to return. John Minock Ann Arbor, Michigan

Serene week in the Langhe
Thank you Giovanna for a wonderful home from which to explore and enjoy the magic of Le Langhe! The house is well described in your profile and in the comments posted by other guests. Being a group of four adults we found the spacious, very clean environment a wonderful place to come home to, prepare meals in and from which to explore the beautiful surroundings of the Cascina. A note to prospective guests: Giovanna is a jewel! The night of our arrival my husband cut his hand quite severely so that it needed stitches. Giovanna immediately offered to drive us to the Alba hospital so he could be treated. Being unfamiliar with the roads and Alba it would have been a long journey indeed if I had to drive him myself. And then on the return trip she took us to a special bakery to buy a delicious semifreddo birthday cake as it was my birthday. Thank you Giovanna! I hope we can return again to enjoy your special place. I will recommend it to our friends if they have the opportunity to travel to Italy.

Beautiful and breath-taking
My husband and I had a fantastic time, and Giovanna was so wonderful about setting up winery tours and restaurant reservations for us. We loved wandering through the grapevines and exploring the nearby small towns. The house was perfect and in such a gorgeous location!
