Sentry Mead is an outstanding venue, within a shot walk of the sea it is very clean with an excellent breakfast.
The staff go out of their way to meet every need.
The managers were always responsive to our need and comfort.
We had a delightful 4 nights at Sentry Mead. The welcome from Wendy, the decor, the spaciousness cleanliness and comfort of the room and en suite were faultless.
Wonderful breakfast cooked by Steve and senved with a smile and a chat by Bridget, who has a great knowledge of local walks. There is a good place to eat witin 5 to 10 mns on foot in the evening, at Sentry Mead doesn't do evening meals and several other options available.
Their bar remains open
All in all, totally recommend. Iris and Stuart
The hotel was exceptional. Location was fantastic - very near to bus stop, walking distance to the beach, a convenience store is nearby, there is a lovely restaurant within walking distance. The hotel itself was absolutely lovely - clean, cosy, comfortable. Just perfect. Wendy & Steve was the best. Would definitely come back.
If anything, just one thing to be aware of - you need to up one flight of stairs to get to the bedrooms.
The hosts at Sentry Mead were excellent. Looked after all our needs. The room was quite large and quite well furnished. Breakfasts were top class with an enormous choice.Everybody was so friendly and helpful so that made our stay really enjoyable.
The staff are customer focused. They go out of their way to be helpful. For a B & B the facilities are very good. Our room was spacious, clean and had everything you need. Breakfast was first class. Just one flaw, the lack of adequate hand rail in the shower. This B & B is probably the best on the island. I would not hesitate to return. Thank you Steve, Wendy and Bridget for providing us with a top class service.

We were just extremely happy with this little gem of a hotel. The managers, Steve & Wendy were fantastic and loved one’d after us from beginning to end. They had thought of every little detail to make us welcomed and throughout our stay. Everything was clean and the breakfasts were delicious. Plenty of places to relax - super lounge, lovely big conservatory, and a beautiful garden with lots of tables and seating area to enjoy a drink or simply relax. Well appointed for visiting places of interest and superb restaurants. Will definitely return to the Sentry when we next visit the Isle of Wight. Thank you to Steve and Wendy and to the very polite and efficient waitress Bridget!
We had a wonderful stay at Sentry Mead to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Honestly every detail had been thought of by Mark and Gayle, the wonderful hosts. The Honesty Bar was a lovely touch. Breakfast was also fantastic! Location in Totland Bay is very convenient. We can’t wait to come back.
Our stay at Sentry Mead was absolutely perfect. Wendy, Steve and the other staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to add special little touches. They managed a couple of special requests for us during our stay as well. The breakfast was excellent - including gluten free options for me - and a wide variety of things to choose from. My husband loved the enormous honor bar where he could try locally distilled spirits. With a recent renovation, the decor is lovely - a mix of modern with cosy traditional - and the garden is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day.
We arrived for a short break for our wedding anniversary. On arrival we were met by Gayle, the proprietor, and shown around. We were given a very warm welcome. This is a lovely boutique hotel that absolutely gives the personal touch. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed and all the little details you would expect (plus a few unexpected, gorgeous brownies). We will definitely be going back in the future.
Sentry Mead is a large property on a big plot of land. It is well kept both inside and out. My room was very nice with all the touches such as premium toiletries. There was a big comfy bed, a lovely en-suite, tv etc. I was pleased with the parking which was ample. I booked to take my dog and there seemed to be a little confusion over this. A bed and dish were soon provided. There were walks nearby which added to the appeal. The only problem I encountered was that dogs were not allowed in the dining room, which is understandable, but there didn’t seem to be a regular alternative. As my puppy is 6 months old, leaving her in my room while I ate is not a viable option, she is a well behaved dog but still a baby in her outlook. I had an enjoyable stay and would stay there again when my dog is a bit older.
