When I pulled down the bedspread after check-in, the sheets were stained, and there was a collection of hairs on the pillow. When I called to notify the desk, they made me go down personally. The manager handed me a new set of linens out of an almost empty linen closet. I changed my own bed. The blanket and bedspread were so dirty I would not put them back on the bed and left a sign asking the housekeeper not to put them back on either. I came back the following evening to find a different blanket and bedspread on the desk. I picked up the bedspread, unfolded it part way and was overwhelmed by the stench of sweat and stale cigagette smoke. Absolutely disgusting.
This property is not a traditional hotel. It looks more like an apartment building. My room smelled of smoke, even though there was a no smoking sign posted on the building entrance. The windows were open, which helped to air the room out, I suppose, but I had to run the A/C for an hour before the room was cool and dry enough on a hot summer day. The staff should have turned on the A/C since I told them when I was arriving. There was a cigarette burn on my sheets. There were patches of mold on the walls. The bed had a cheap mattress. There was no phone or alarm clock. The sound did not work on the TV. On the positive side, the room was reasonable quiet and looked clean enough beyond the mold stains. I would have felt more comfortable staying in a traditional hotel.
We have stayed in off brand, older hotels/motels and don't mind when the rooms are clean and comfortable. The room was clean but was more run down than acceptable. Walls in the hotel needed painting, rugs worn. The blankets had burn holes. The plug in air freshener smell was overwhelming. They did have WIFI - but had to walk to the desk to get the password cuz the phone - while present, was not plugged in to anything! Lucky no emergencies. Promised the kids we would pony up for a "real" hotel next time.
-Scorch marks all over the vanity in a "No Smoking" room. The smell of smoke permeated the linens and room despite the window being open.
-Burn holes in the sheets.
-Visible dirt on the carpeting in the hallway and the room (perhaps their vacuum cleaner was broken?)
-NO VISITORS plastered to the front door -- not very welcoming . . .
-Paper thin, tiny towels.
-Seedy neighborhood.
-This hotel is ANYTHING but Royal.
-Old, beaten up furniture in the rooms. Looked like it may have been trash picked.
